Im honestly so fed up with this kit lens that came with my camera its just not doing it for me. I recently switched over to micro four thirds thinking it would be this light portable dream but every shot I take indoors looks like grain soup and I just feel like I made a huge mistake spending my savings on this. I moved to Seattle recently and between the constant gray skies and the low light indoors I'm just struggling so hard to get anything sharp or with that nice background blur everyone talks about.

So I was thinking maybe I need a prime lens or two but there are so many options and I'm terrified of wasting more money. My logic was that a 25mm would be the most normal view but then I read that the 15mm f1.7 is the magic lens for this system but it costs way more and I dont know if the focal length is too wide for everyday stuff. I'm looking to spend maybe $800 max total for now because I really need to justify keeping this system instead of just selling it all back to the store. What are the absolute essentials that every M43 person needs to own? Is the Lumix 20mm pancake actually too slow at focusing or am I just overthinking it...

When is the absolute best time of year to actually get the lowest prices on Newegg because I am literally staring at my cart right now and I feel like if I click buy I'm gonna regret it in two weeks. I've been watching prices like a hawk and it feels like they change every single day which is making me super anxious because I dont want to waste my $900 budget on something that'll be $150 cheaper next month.

Right now I'm torn between two main paths for my build. Option A is upgrading my GPU to an RTX 4070 Super, maybe pairing it with a new PSU since mine is like 7 years old and probably gonna explode lol. Option B is doing a full platform swap to a Ryzen 7 7800X3D bundle with DDR5 ram because my current CPU is definitely bottlenecking everything I try to play. Newegg has these Shell Shocker deals and then there's the Fantasetech thing they do but I missed the summer one and now I'm looking at these Back to School sales vs just waiting for the absolute chaos of Black Friday.

I live in a drafty place in Ohio and my current PC is basically a space heater so I really need something more efficient before the winter hits and I'm stuck inside gaming all day. My timeline is pretty flexible but I'd love to have it built for the big fall releases. Is Black Friday actually the lowest price for components like GPUs and motherboards or is that just for generic stuff like TVs and laptops? I've heard people say that Labor Day has better component deals sometimes but then I see those Newegg Eggspress deals and get tempted to just buy it now. I'm just really worried that if I wait until November everything will be out of stock because of the holiday rush and then I'll be stuck with my old rig for another year. Has anyone actually tracked these prices over the long term or is it all just random luck...

I am literally leaving for my dream trip to Iceland in like twelve days and I just realized I do not have a proper wide angle for my Fuji setup. I've been using the 18-55 kit lens for everything since I got into the system but I know for those massive waterfalls and hopefully the aurora I'm gonna need something way wider than 18mm. I'm shooting on an X-T5 so I want something that can actually handle that 40mp sensor but I'm totally torn between a few options and the clock is ticking.

First one I'm looking at is the Fuji 10-24mm f4 WR version. I like that it has the weather sealing because Iceland is basically a giant rain machine but I'm worried f4 isn't gonna be fast enough if I actually catch the northern lights. Plus I've heard it's a bit soft on the newer sensors compared to the primes? Then there's the 14mm f2.8 which is tiny and apparently super sharp but is 14mm wide enough for those huge landscapes? I feel like I might regret not having that 10mm reach when I'm standing in front of Skogafoss or something.

I also keep seeing people rave about the Viltrox 13mm f1.4 and the price is amazing like half of the Fuji lenses but it’s huge and I dont think it has real weather sealing? I'm gonna be hiking a lot so weight is a factor but I don't want to ruin a lens because of some sea spray or rain. My budget is capped at about 800 bucks used or new and I really need to pull the trigger by Wednesday so it gets here in time to test it.

My priorities are basically:

weather resistance is huge for the rain

sharp enough for the xt5 sensor

light enough for 10 mile hikes

fast enough for aurora stuff

So yeah I'm basically stuck between the versatility of the 10-24 zoom vs the speed and sharpness of a prime like the 14mm or the Viltrox. Is the f4 really that bad for aurora shots or should I just suck it up and get a fast prime? Does anyone have experience with these on the 40mp sensor specifically?

I'm really panicking a bit because my daughter Lily turns five in like three weeks and I havent even started her list yet. I was looking on the Costco website because we basically live there and I know they have those big play sets and the giant squishmallows she loves. My logic was that since Amazon and Target have those registry things that I could just make one at Costco too so my family could just go online and buy what she needs instead of guessing. But honestly I am so lost. I spent like forty minutes clicking around the app and the website and I cant find anything that says registry or wishlist or even just save for later. Is that even a thing they do?? I feel so stupid asking this but I am a complete newbie when it comes to the online side of things since I usually just go in person for groceries. I tried looking under my account settings and nothing.

checked the mobile app twice

looked at the holiday gift guide section

searched the help pages for the word registry

If they dont have a real registry is there like a workaround or some way to share a list with people? My budget is really tight this month so I need people to be able to see exactly what I picked out so nothing gets wasted. I just dont want to end up with duplicates because I couldnt figure out the website...

So I've got this trip to London coming up in like three weeks and I really want to nail down my kit for it. I'm shooting on an X-T4 and I usually just use the kit lens but it feels way too bulky for walking around Soho or Camden at night you know? I want something small and fast. I'm basically torn between the 23mm f/2 and the 35mm f/2. People keep saying the 23mm is the classic street focal length because it's wider and you can get more of the vibe in but I'm kinda shy so the 35mm sounds nice since I don't have to get right in people's faces. My budget is pretty tight, maybe 400-450 max so I'm looking at used copies on MPB. I also thought about that tiny 27mm pancake lens because it makes the camera so tiny and less pro looking but I worry about it being too slow for when it gets dark and the autofocus maybe being noisy? Most of my stuff is candid walking around shots, nothing staged. I want to keep things light because I'll be on my feet all day and my back already hates me. If you had to pick one for a one-week trip where you're doing nothing but street, which one is the winner?
