I just bought a used Lumix G85 for a trip to Italy next month but the lens it came with doesnt zoom much. I want something that can do everything... like take pictures of big buildings but also zoom in on stuff far away without me carrying a heavy bag.

My budget is around 400 or 500 dollars max. I keep seeing numbers like 14-140 or 12-100 and I dont really get what they mean. Is there one lens that just does it all?

im so frustrated with this camera honestly i bought an olympus omd thing because i wanted to take cool photos of the streets at night like those neon signs and people walking around but everything i take looks like a blurry mess and super grainy too. i think the lens that came with it just isnt good enough for when it gets dark? someone told me i need a fast prime lens but i have no idea what that even means or how to pick one there are so many numbers and i dont get why some are cheap and others cost a fortune it makes no sense. im going on a trip to new york in three weeks and i really wanted to get some good shots of times square and the subway but right now i just want to throw the camera out the window because i cant figure it out. my budget is maybe 350 dollars at the most because i already spent so much on the camera body itself. i just want something that makes the pictures look sharp even if i dont have a tripod.

there are a few things im totally stuck on:

what does f1.8 actually do compared to f4

why are some lenses so much bigger than others

is 17mm or 25mm better for walking around a city

sorry if this is a really basic question but i am just so lost with all the technical talk online... what is the best lens for a beginner like me who just wants to take night photos without them looking like total garbage?

I really need to know which MFT prime is actually the king for street stuff because I'm finally upgrading from my kit lens next week before my Tokyo trip. I'm so excited to finally get some decent bokeh and low light performance but I'm honestly paralyzed by all the options out there and I dont want to waste my money on the wrong focal length.

I've been looking at a few specifically:

Lumix 20mm f1.7 because it is so tiny

Olympus 17mm f1.8 for that manual focus clutch

Leica 15mm f1.7 which everyone seems to love

I read online that the 20mm has some really slow autofocus which makes me nervous for quick street shots where people are moving fast but then people say the 17mm Oly is a bit soft in the corners compared to the others? I cant tell if those are just gear nerds being extra or if I'll actually notice it on my GX85. My budget is strictly under 500 bucks and I'm totally fine buying used gear from MPB or eBay. I'm mostly gonna be shooting in busy markets and neon alleys so I need something fast. Should I just go for the 15mm Leica or is that focal length gonna be too wide for candid stuff? I'm just so torn...

I need a tripod but I dont even know what to look for or if there are special ones for small cameras? My logic was that since the camera is tiny the tripod should be tiny too but then I saw some that look like toys and I'm worried itll just tip over if it gets windy.

I only have about 120 bucks left to spend so I cant get anything crazy expensive. Should I be looking at those flexible ones or just a normal metal one? I'm really sorry if this is a stupid question I just dont want my new camera to break on the first day...

honestly im so close to just returning this GH5 and going back to my old Canon because this thing is driving me crazy right out of the box. i picked it up second hand last week because everyone said it was the goat for video but i feel like i just bought a expensive brick that needs a hundred extra parts to actually work. I have a huge wedding shoot for my sister this Saturday here in Seattle and im lowkey panicking because I just realized the battery life is absolutely pathetic compared to what i was used to. like it died in under 45 minutes while i was just messing with the settings in my living room today. how am i supposed to film a whole ceremony and reception like this?? its stressing me out so much.

and dont even get me started on the storage. i tried using some old sd cards i had lying around but it keeps giving me write speed errors whenever i try to record in 4k which is the whole reason i got this camera in the first place. i feel so unprepared and i already blew most of my budget on the body and a 12-35mm lens. i only have about 350-400 bucks left in my bank account to make this thing pro enough to not ruin her big day and i still need to figure out audio because the internal mic sounds like im underwater. i need to know what the absolute bare minimum essentials are that i can get delivered to my house by friday night.

do i need a cage or can i get away without one for now?

which batteries actually last more than an hour?

do i need one of those v-mount things or is that overkill for a wedding?

what sd cards wont fail on me mid-vow?

is there a cheap way to get decent audio?

im just super frustrated because i thought this was gonna be a simple upgrade but it feels like a total money pit right now and im running out of time. what are the top essential accessories for a new GH5 owner that i actually NEED to survive a 10 hour shoot day without the camera dying or the footage getting corrupted?
