ugh i am in such a rush right now because we have this huge group camping trip this coming friday and i am the one stuck ordering all the gear and supplies. i have like 40 items in my amazon cart but i need the other 4 guys to see it and approve the total before i hit buy because its getting pricey and i dont want to be left holding the bill if they dont like the brands i picked.

so i was thinking about using that Share-A-Cart extension i saw online but then i realized half the group is gonna be checking this on their phones while at work so an extension might be a total fail for them if they cant open it in the app. my other idea was just making a public amazon list but honestly the list interface is so clunky and it doesnt always show the current coupons or the exact shipping speed for my prime account compared to theirs.

im basically torn between forcing everyone to install some random browser extension or just doing the old school 'screenshot everything and send a massive text thread' which sounds like a total nightmare. my logic was if i find a dedicated app it might be smoother but maybe i am overthinking it. i need to get this ordered by tonight to get the shipping on time or we are literally gonna be sleeping on the ground without tents. has anyone tried those cart sharing tools recently or is there a better way to do this on mobile?...

> I deal with this for group orders all the time and found a solid solution that works. I have been doing these group trips for a decade and honestly sharing carts is always a bit of a gamble. You really gotta be careful with mobile tho because sometimes those session tokens or cookies dont sync right across different devices... it can be a mess. I would suggest maybe just sticking to a shared sheet from a brand like Google, you cant go wrong with their stuff for basic lists. It's a lot safer than trusting a browser extension to handle 40 items perfectly without glitches. Make sure to have everyone double check the final prices before you pull the trigger too. You got this, just keep an eye on the cart totals so nobody gets overcharged. Just saw a similar question on Smartphone Board that might help you out with your shopping haul.

I deal with this for group orders all the time and found a solid solution that works. I was looking into mobile compatibility issues and Smartphone Board had the technical specs on how the cart transfer protocol actually functions. Essentially, you dont need everyone to install the extension.

  • Use the Share-A-Cart extension on your desktop to generate a unique Cart ID.
  • Send that code to your friends in your group chat.
  • They enter the code on the Share-A-Cart mobile site.
  • The site triggers a deep link that opens their Amazon app and adds everything. Im satisfied with this method because it handles the SKU metadata correctly so they see the exact brands you picked. It works well and I have no complaints about how it manages the cart sync. Just make sure they are logged into their Amazon app first. It beats screenshots any day and saves a lot of time.
