Okay so my best friend is throwing me a bridal shower in April and Im so excited but honestly Im totally lost on the gift part. I was looking at Amazon because everyone uses it but I saw there is an option for a registry and also something about a shared cart? Or maybe I just add stuff to a list and give them the link?
Sorry if this is a really dumb question but I have literally never done this before and I dont want to mess it up. I want to make sure people dont buy the same thing twice because that would be awkward to return stuff while living in a small apartment in Chicago lol. Like if I use a shared cart can people just see what I want and buy it or does it not track if someone already got it? I have a budget of mostly under 50 dollar items because I dont want to stress my friends out.
Does the registry thingy automatically hide stuff once its bought? Im just worried I will do it wrong and end up with five of the same toaster or something. How do I actually set it up so it works for a party?

^ This. Also, everyone above is totally right—using a shared cart for a bridal shower is just asking for a massive headache. You gotta be careful with that because it doesn't actually track who bought what, and honestly, you dont want to spend your honeymoon returning three of the same coffee maker to a tiny post office in Chicago. Space is way too precious for that lol. I would suggest sticking with a proper registry but keeping it simple. Like, just go with KitchenAid for your kitchen basics. You can't go wrong with anything they make, and it usually fits the under 50 dollar budget if youre looking at utensils or bowls. Go with the registry option for sure! I used one for my own party and it was amazing. Basically, it works by tracking every single purchase in real time. Once someone buys a gift, the system marks it as purchased immediately so nobody else can get the same thing. It saved me so much stress and totally prevented any awkward double-ups... plus setup is super easy!

Stumbled upon this today and figured Id chime in based on what Ive seen over the years. Honestly, stay away from the shared cart idea for a shower. In my experience, those are meant for people living together to manage groceries or household stuff. It doesnt actually track who bought what in a way that prevents duplicates for a party, so it'd be a total mess for your guests. The registry is the way to go because it handles the technical side for you. It uses a specific tracking ID so when a guest clicks buy, it flags that item immediately in their system. If you just send a generic list, people always forget to mark things as purchased and you will definitely end up with those extra toasters.
