Can someone please tell me which website actually syncs every store registry into one master list?

I am honestly so stressed because MyRegistry is totally glitching out and wont pull in my Target items and my baby shower is literally in three weeks. People keep asking for the link constantly so i need this fixed... is there an alternative?

TL;DR: Try the Amazon Universal button. I went through this with Pottery Barn items and gave up on auto-syncing. I just added the Amazon universal button to my toolbar. It is free and worked better than fighting with glitches. I spent one evening manually re-adding my list... took about twenty minutes but everything finally stayed synced for guests. Just keep an eye on shipping costs for non-Amazon items tho.

Honestly, MyRegistry has been having some weird API issues with Target for a minute now. If you're three weeks out and stressed, you should probably just jump over to Babylist. I've messed around with the backend of a few of these, and Babylist is just more robust when it comes to their browser extension and add from any store functionality. Heres the deal with how these things work:

  • Most sites use a combination of web scraping and direct APIs. Target is constantly tweaking their site architecture, which breaks the scrapers that MyRegistry relies on.
  • Babylist uses a more stable bookmarklet method that pulls the metadata directly from the page you are looking at rather than trying to batch-sync from the stores server.
  • It handles the reserved status way better across different platforms so you dont end up with three of the same stroller. Technically, its a synchronization lag often caused by how Target manages their inventory tokens. If the handshake between the two servers fails, MyRegistry just times out. The Babylist system is more of a wrapper than a deep integration, which is actually a benefit because it fails less often. The downside is that sometimes the prices dont update in real time if the store changes them, but for a 3-week window, that wont matter much. Just import your existing lists. It usually takes like 10 minutes to pull everything in. If Target is still being a pain, you can just add the specific items using their button on the product page itself. Its way more reliable than the automatic sync when youre in a time crunch. Just get the link out to your people and breathe... itll be fine.
