I'm planning a trip with a friend, and I just got my hands on a Canon EOS R5. I'm excited about its 8K video capabilities, but I'm unsure which memory card would be best for optimal performance. I want something reliable that can handle the high data rates of 8K video without hiccups. Also, considering we'll be traveling, I need a card with ample storage. Any suggestions for a memory card that balances speed, capacity, and reliability for the EOS R5?

I've been using the Lexar Professional CFexpress Type B 325GB cards and they're rock solid. The R5 can be pretty demanding on cards, especially with 45MP files and 4K/8K video recording. These cards handle continuous shooting without any hiccups. Just make sure whatever you get has at least 400MB/s write speed to avoid bottlenecks.

CFexpress cards excel in action photography, rapidly clearing the buffer for extended burst shooting. Their value depends on your specific needs. Given the R5's high-end capabilities, using slower memory cards could limit its potential. Investing in a CFexpress card ensures you're maximizing the camera's performance, especially for fast-paced shooting scenarios.
