seriously what is the best prime lens for street photography on the x-t4 because im actually about to lose my mind with this kit lens. ive been trying to get some shots downtown chicago but the 18-55 is just so bulky and slow and i feel like everyone is staring at me which makes me super anxious and then i miss the shot anyway. the autofocus keeps hunting when it gets even a little bit dark and its just driving me crazy. i have like 600 bucks saved up and im leaving for a trip in six days so i really need to decide tonight. do i go with the 23mm f2 or is the 35mm better for not being noticed...

You might want to consider these f2 primes instead.

Honestly, that kit lens is such a letdown for street stuff. I had similar issues with the Fujifilm XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS hunting whenever things got even slightly dim... really frustrating when you are trying to be low key and the lens just wont lock on. If you want to actually stay invisible downtown, you gotta ditch the zoom. I have been shooting Fuji for a hot minute and unfortunately the 35mm can feel a bit too tight for busy streets, even though it is a sharp lens. For $600, you should 100% grab the Fujifilm XF 23mm f/2 R WR. It is super tiny and the autofocus is basically instant compared to the kit. It makes the X-T4 feel like a totally different camera. Dont worry about people staring, with that small prime they just think youre a tourist. You got this, just grab it and go.
