I went on a trip to the windy coast of Oregon last year and was so scared of getting salt spray inside my a6400! I decided right then to never change lenses outdoors. You're making such a smart call for Iceland because that wind is absolutely no joke!! I've tried a few zooms and here is what I found for reliability:

  • Sony E 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS: This lens is fantastic for the money! It is super light and the photos are so sharp. I love how compact it is. It's definitely good enough for your budget.
  • Tamron 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD: I actually upgraded to this for the extra reach and it's amazing!! It covers everything from wide landscapes to distant birds without ever exposing your sensor to the rain. If you can find a used deal, that Tamron is a total lifesaver for keeping your gear safe! You're gonna have a blast!!
