I finally saved up enough and bought a Leica M11 for my trip to Italy in three weeks! I'm honestly so excited but also kinda terrified because I've never owned a camera this expensive before. I have no idea where to start with accessories and I'm super confused about the straps.

I see people using leather ones and then some that look like climbing ropes? I'm really worried about the camera falling off if I get a cheap one from Amazon or something. Sorry if this is a basic question but what is the safest strap for a beginner? I have about $100 left to spend and just want something that won't break while I'm walking around Rome...

Congrats on the M11! Seriously, thats a dream setup. I remember exactly how you feel... when I finally got mine, I was so scared of dropping it that I barely took it out of the bag at first. Cheap options just felt flimsy to me. I eventually settled on a rope strap and I've been really happy with it for over a year now. It survived a whole month of me lugging it around crowded markets without a single scare.

  • COOPH Rope Camera Strap 100cm Olive
  • This is my go-to. Its made from actual climbing rope so its basically impossible to break. Very satisfied with how it feels on the neck too.
  • Peak Design Slide Lite Camera Strap Black
  • Use this if you want something functional. The adjustment is super smooth for long walks and the quick connectors are very secure. Both of these work well and youll feel way more secure once you get one on there. Italy is gonna be amazing.
