I am lowkey panicking because I have a big outdoor wedding shoot in Seattle next Saturday and I just realized I cant see my Sony a7s iii screen for shit in the sun. I need a monitor fast but I only have $500 left in the gear budget.
Im torn between the Atomos Ninja V because everyone uses it and the Portkeys LH5P II with the camera control stuff. I dont care about recording raw right now but I need something that wont lag and is bright enough to see. Is the Ninja V overkill if I just want to nail focus or should I go with the Portkeys? I really need to get this right before next weekend...

I would suggest the Portkeys LH5P II 5.5 Inch 2200nit Touchscreen Monitor. Be careful with the Ninja, it might be way too dim for outdoor work and you dont need the bulky recorder.

Late to the party but you definitely dont need to drop $500 to get a viewable screen! Seattle weddings are amazing but that sun reflection off the water is no joke. The Ninja is iconic but honestly kinda dim for what you need next week. Check these out instead:
- Feelworld LUT7 7 Inch 2200nit 3D LUT Monitor
- This is a total budget beast. Its so bright you might actually have to turn it down in the shade! Love how cheap it is.
- SmallHD Action 5 5.5 Inch 2000nit Touchscreen Monitor
- SmallHD makes the best software in the game. This entry level one is super fast and the focus tools are fantastic.
- Desview R6 UHB 5.5 Inch 2800nit Ultra High Brightness Monitor
- This one is crazy cheap and gets bright enough to see anything even in direct glare. Perfect for high noon shoots. Spend your savings on some high capacity Sony NP-F970 Rechargeable Battery Pack spares tho... high nits means high battery drain!

> The Ninja is iconic but honestly kinda dim for what you need next week. ^ This. Also, I once lost a ceremony when my screen overheated. The Osee T7 7-Inch 3000nit High Brightness Monitor is a decent option that stays cool and is reliable... definitely safer than the Ninja.
