So I finally got the green light from my wife to drop some real cash on my first build in like six years and I am literally vibrating with excitement lol. I have about $1200 saved up and I am aiming to finish this by next friday because its for my brothers birthday here in Chicago and I want it to be a surprise.
I have been staring at the Newegg pages for the RTX 4070 Super and some Ryzen chips all day long but the prices keep bouncing around like crazy. I usually use CamelCamelCamel for everything but obviously that only works for Amazon and I really want to stick with Newegg for the combo savings they have going on right now.
I was looking at PCPartPicker but sometimes their price history feels a bit laggy or it doesnt catch the flash sales fast enough and I dont want to miss a drop. I also tried Honey but it doesnt really give me that long-term graph I want to see if the 'sale' is actually a good deal. Is there something better for Newegg specifically or am I just stuck refreshing the page every ten minutes? Does anyone know a site that specializes in Newegg data history?

Honestly I had a really annoying experience with this when I was putting together my current machine last year. I was obsessed with getting the best price-to-performance ratio and spent weeks checking data points. Unfortunately, most of the tools I tried were pretty disappointing. They just dont refresh fast enough for those aggressive Newegg flash sales. I remember missing out on the exact motherboard I wanted because the tracker I used showed it in stock at a discount, but by the time I clicked through, it was long gone. The lag is real. I eventually started checking this Newegg price tracker which helped a bit with the historical trends, but Newegg is notoriously tricky for scrapers because of how they hide prices in the cart. It basically makes it impossible to get a 100% accurate live feed 24/7, which kinda sucks when youre on a deadline like yours.

I'm finally catching up on this thread and honestly, you're gonna have a blast building that rig. The Newegg combo savings have been making me pretty happy lately, hitting some solid lows if you're patient. Just a few things to watch out for so you dont blow that budget:
- avoid the marketplace sellers if you can; stick to items sold and shipped by Newegg so you dont get hit with weird restocking fees.
- dont get fooled by the 'original price' they show because it's often the launch price from two years ago.
- be careful with 'shell shocker' deals that are only a few bucks off but marketed like a massive steal. Stick to the main components and you'll be fine. You should probably install PriceDropCatch if you want to see if a 'sale' is actually a good deal or not.

I have been quite satisfied with my tracking lately, although I am not 100% sure which site is objectively best for Newegg.
- I think PriceDropCatch works well for catching those rapid price shifts.
- IIRC, some browser extensions provide more granular data than the larger aggregate sites.
- I believe setting up direct alerts is the most methodical way to track specific chips.
