Any Nikon mirrorless camera discounts this Prime Day 2026?

So Prime Day is coming up in a few weeks and I am literally checking my phone every ten minutes for any leaks on Nikon deals. I saw this one post on a rumor site saying the Z6 III might actually see its first real discount since launch but then I read a different thread on DPReview where people were saying Nikon usually holds back their best prices for their own site or B&H later in the fall. Its super confusing because I am sitting here with my ancient D750 and I really need to upgrade before a big wedding gig I have in Seattle this August. My logic was that Prime Day 2026 would be the perfect window to snag a Z7 II or maybe even the Z8 if the discount is deep enough. I have about $2200 saved up specifically for the body and maybe a basic kit lens if I can swing it. I dont want to pull the trigger now and then see it for $400 cheaper two weeks later you know? But then I worry if I wait too long the shipping might be weird and I wont have time to practice with the new autofocus system before the wedding. Anyone actually seen any reliable leaks for the July 2026 window or am I just chasing ghosts here...

Prime Day usually sees Nikon Z7 II 45.7MP Mirrorless deals, but B&H usually matches. If you snag a Nikon Z8 45.7MP 8K Video, remember youll need fast CFexpress Type B cards for those files.

@Reply #1 - good point! about the storage speed. I have to disagree slightly on the Z7 II recommendation tho. If you are shooting a wedding in August, you really need reliable eye-autofocus, and the older Z7 II tech is honestly starting to show its age compared to the newer Expeed 7 processors. For event work, hit rate is everything. With a $2200 budget, the Z8 is likely out of reach even with a deep Prime Day haircut unless you find a crazy open-box deal. I would suggest focusing on these options instead:

  • Nikon Z6 III 24.5MP Full-Frame Mirrorless: This is basically the sweet spot for weddings. The partially stacked sensor means much faster readout and AF tracking than the Z7 series. It handles low light better too.
  • Nikon Zf 24.5MP Mirrorless Camera: It looks retro, but the internals are beastly. It often goes on sale for under $1900, which leaves some room for glass.
  • Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-120mm f/4 S Lens: If you can find a bundle or a used copy, this is significantly better than the basic 24-70mm f/4 kit lens for wedding coverage. Technically speaking, the Z6 III AF is miles ahead of the Z7 II. For a Seattle wedding where you might be dealing with dim indoor lighting or flat, overcast skies, that 24MP sensor is actually a benefit for noise management compared to the high-res 45MP sensors. Just keep in mind that if you want to keep using your old F-mount glass, you will need the Nikon FTZ II Mount Adapter which usually runs about $250. It adds up fast...
