honestly so done with this Sigma MC-21 it keeps hunting and losing focus right when I need it most. I was shooting a baptism last weekend in Seattle and it just completely gave up on me in the low light which was super embarrassing. Im ready to toss it and get something that actually works with my Lumix S5II. i have about 400 bucks to spend and i need it before my next gig in three weeks.
Is there anything better than the Sigma or am I just stuck with native lenses...
I've been in this game for a decade. Unfortunately, the options are pretty slim. My experience with adapters has been rough, especially after a nightmare shoot last month.
@Reply #2 - good point! Firmware is everything. Honestly ive been pretty satisfied with the Commlite EF-L Auto Focus Mount Adapter recently. Its a massive budget win and works well on the S5II thanks to the phase detect. No complaints for the price. Just watch out for reliability on big video shoots... nothing beats native glass for total safety, but this is a solid middle ground for your L glass.
Watch out for outdated firmware! Definitely check the L-Mount Alliance site for compatibility tables first. Adapting for paid video is honestly super risky cause they wont always work when it gets dark tho...
