Which compact gimbals work best for Micro Four Thirds setups?

My logic was a Crane M3 would be perfect for my G100 since it's tiny but the balance is just... off with my 12-35mm lens. Ive been doing this for years but this small rig setup is trickier than I thought.

Got a Japan trip next month and 400 bucks to spend. Any better compact gimbals?

Saw this earlier but finally getting a chance to weigh in. Over the years I've tried many stabilizers, and honestly, MFT cameras like your G100 look light but that 12-35mm makes them front-heavy. TL;DR: Grab the DJI RS 3 Mini 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer. It solves the clearance issues you're having and fits your 400 dollar budget perfectly. In my experience, the problem with the Crane M series is the arm length. When you mount a professional lens like that 12-35mm, the back of the camera hits the roll motor because there isnt enough space to slide it forward. I always prioritize reliability when traveling, and the DJI motors are just more robust. You dont want to be halfway through a Japan trip and have the motors overheating because they're struggling with a bad center of gravity. The RS 3 Mini is rated for way more weight than you need, which gives you that safety margin i always look for. Its basically the only compact rig i trust for glass that heavy tho.

Honestly, the original Crane M3 was a bit of a letdown for anyone using glass like that 12-35mm. I had issues with the motor clearance myself; it just feels too cramped for a methodical balance. Unfortunately, that gimbal is not as good as expected once you move away from tiny primes. The arm length is just too short for that specific lens combo. For your Japan trip, you should look at the DJI RS 3 Mini 3-Axis Gimbal. It fits your budget and handles MFT setups way better because the motors are positioned for actual mirrorless cameras, not just phones. One quick tip: if you are still fighting the balance on a small rig, get a SmallRig Offset Kit for Gimbal. It shifts the camera slightly to the side to clear the roll motor. Tbh, the RS 3 Mini is just a more professional choice for that G100 setup.

> Got a Japan trip next month and 400 bucks to spend. Any better compact gimbals? I actually disagree about the RS3 Mini being the only way to go tho! If youre hitting Japan, you need something that wont kill your wrist after ten hours of walking. I love my gear and honestly, the Feiyu SCORP-Mini 2 All-in-One Gimbal is fantastic for MFT! That integrated underslung grip is a total game changer for street shots. It handles front-heavy lenses like that 12-35mm way better than the Crane series because of the physical weight distribution. Another awesome choice is the Zhiyun Crane M3S 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal. It basically fixes the motor issues of the old M3 and stays super tiny. The SCORP-Mini 2 is my top pick tho... the AI tracking is just amazing for the price! Youll have plenty of cash left for extra sushi too.
