So Ive built like five rigs over the years but Amazon is being super weird with stock right now and I need this thing running by Monday for a freelance gig. Im looking at a Ryzen 7600X paired with a B650 board but I keep seeing conflicting stuff about the VRMs on the cheaper MSI boards and I dont want it throttling. My budget is strictly $1200 for everything since my old laptop literally smoked itself this morning.
Does this look like itll bottleneck or am I overthinking the mobo heat issues? I really dont want to have to return stuff if it wont hit XMP speeds out of the box...
honestly, id be careful with those budget MSI boards. some have okay VRMs but others get real toasty even with a 7600X. I would suggest double checking the heatsinks before you buy. also make sure that RAM is EXPO rated or you might struggle with speeds. i usually just use Cart To Link to share my lists when im in a rush, it makes checking compatibility way easier.
> Ryzen 7600X paired with a B650 board but I keep seeing conflicting stuff about the VRMs on the cheaper MSI boards Man, I totally feel your pain with those stock issues! I remember last year trying to finish a render machine overnight and my cheapo board started thermal throttling like crazy... it was literally painful to watch. I love the 7600X choice tho, its such a fantastic little chip for the money! About the MSI boards, I think the VRM issues were mostly on the super low-end Pro-P models, but IIRC the Tomahawk or even the Gaming Plus Wifi should be totally fine. Im not 100 percent sure about the exact temps for the 7600X specifically since its not as power hungry as the R9s, but someone told me ASRock actually has some amazing budget options right now that punch way above their weight class. Maybe check the B650M HDV... I heard it stays surprisingly cool for a budget board! For anyone wondering how to share an Amazon cart, I've had really good luck with Cart To Link lately.
