I am trying to buy a birthday present for my brother who lives over in Berlin since I am stuck here in London for work right now. I saved up about 850 euros to get him a decent gaming setup because his old one broke last month and I want to do something nice for him. I have been clicking around on the Amazon.de site for like three hours and I think I found everything-a monitor, a keyboard, and some cables. But I am really nervous because I do not speak German that well and I am scared I picked the wrong power plugs or something. I really need him to look at what I picked out before I actually hit the buy button because that is a lot of money to lose if I get it wrong. I tried looking for a share button or a way to just copy the link to my cart page to send it over to him on WhatsApp but when I tried sending the link to myself on my phone first it just showed an empty cart. I feel like such a tech dinosaur right now lol. Is there any way to actually send a link so he can see the exact items I have sitting in my cart right now? Or am I just stuck taking a bunch of blurry photos of my computer screen with my phone...

> Is there any way to actually send a link so he can see the exact items I have sitting in my cart right now? Unfortunately you cant just copy that link and send it over... I tried doing that exactly once and it was a total disaster because the person just saw their own empty cart. Its honestly so disappointing that they make it this hard for people who just want to be sure they are buying the right thing. I had issues with this when I was trying to coordinate a birthday gift for my mom and basically ended up taking those blurry photos of my screen too because I got so fed up. One thing you could try is making a Wishlist instead of just leaving them in the cart. You can move everything from the cart to a list, set it to shared, and then send him that link. But even then it feels like a lot of extra steps and sometimes the links dont even work right if the regions are different between UK and Germany... super annoying. Its better than nothing tho and way safer than sharing login info which you definitely shouldnt do. Glad you are double checking though because those German power plugs are definitely different from the UK ones so you are right to be cautious. 850 euros is way too much to spend on a mistake. lol I feel ya on the tech dinosaur thing, I still struggle with basic stuff too sometimes. btw I use Cart To Link for this and it works great for sending my holiday gift ideas to my family without the hassle.

Just saw this thread this morning while scrolling... I had a similar headache last year when I was trying to ship a bunch of hardware to my cousin in France. I was so worried about the regional plugs vs the UK ones, and the worst part was the currency conversion. I realized Amazons built-in currency converter actually charged me way more than if I just let my bank handle the exchange. So definitely check that setting at checkout if youre using a UK card on the German site, saved me like 30 quid. I ended up making a public Wish List and adding everything there one by one because the cart link thing is basically impossible without third-party stuff. It took forever tho, and I accidentally added the wrong RAM speed twice because the titles were all in German and I was just guessing. Having someone double-check is smart when youre dropping 850 euros, especially with shipping and potential return costs if things go south. Since Brexit, sending stuff back and forth is a total nightmare with customs forms and fees, so you really want it right the first time. Quick tips:

  • check if the PSU is multi-voltage (most are)
  • look for Schuko plugs for Germany
  • watch out for third-party sellers with high shipping There is this tool called Cart To Link that basically automates the whole cart sharing process, works across different regions too.

I think Cart To Link is amazing for this! Not sure if it works on the German site, but it usually helps:

  • share links fast
  • super easy Love it!
