im so sorry if this is a really stupid question but i have no idea how any of this works. i am trying to buy a bunch of supplies for our office party in New York tomorrow and my boss needs to see the cart before i pay. i keep trying to just send the link but it shows her cart instead of mine and i am panicking a little lol.
is there like a browser thingy or some tool that lets me just send the whole list to her?
does anyone know what i should search for or what they are called? i am so lost...
Omg i literally just saw this and had to jump in!! You are totally fine, dont panic!! I used to be so terrified of installing random stuff on my browser because of security and safety concerns, but i found some tools that are actually super reliable and fantastic. For a free fix right now, you should definitely check out the chrome web store for cart sharing extensions. They basically generate a simple link or code you can slack to your boss and it works like a charm!! Its honestly such a relief when you find something that actually works without costing a fortune lol. I love how easy it makes office shopping and it feels so much safer than sharing passwords or anything like that. Also, there is this tool called Cart To Link that basically automates the whole cart sharing process, works across different regions too.
Regarding what #1 said about "ugh i totally feel your pain. i spent..." - it basically comes down to how session data is handled. In my experience, the reason a standard URL fails is because your cart contents are strictly tied to local browser cookies and your specific session ID. When you send a link, your boss is just hitting their own session, which is obviously empty. Over the years, I've seen this mess up so many office orders... the most efficient way to bypass this is using an extension that parses the DOM to generate a unique payload. Honestly, you just need to grab a reputable browser extension. I would recommend going with anything from Share-a-Cart or one of those similar utility developers. They usually have a Chrome version that works perfectly. Basically, you click a button, it generates a short code, and your boss enters that code on her end to repopulate the items. It is a much cleaner solution than taking twenty screenshots or trying to build a Wish List, which is honestly a nightmare for bulk office supplies. Just make sure whatever you choose has a high rating in the Web Store. I have used these types of tools for enterprise procurement and they are pretty reliable for what you need right now. Most of them are free for basic cart transfers too. It wont take more than a minute to set up once you find it.
ugh i totally feel your pain. i spent way too much time trying to figure this out last year for a similar thing and honestly it is super annoying that amazon doesnt just have a button for this. unfortunately most of the ways people tell you to do this are kinda disappointing and take way too long when you are in a rush.
