Is anyone else keeping an eye out for early Black Friday deals on Canon gear for 2025 yet?

I’m trying to plan ahead this year instead of panic-buying the week of Black Friday. I’m specifically looking at Canon mirrorless bodies (maybe an EOS R6 Mark II or R8) and a couple of RF lenses (like the RF 24-105mm or a budget-friendly prime). In past years I remember seeing some solid early-bird discounts starting in early November, but it’s hard to tell what was a genuine deal vs. a normal rebate or bundle.

For those of you who follow Canon sales closely:
- Do Canon and major retailers (like B&H, Adorama, Amazon, Best Buy) typically roll out **real** early Black Friday deals, or are the best discounts still on/around the actual day?
- Are there specific patterns, like body-only deals first and lens discounts later, or better prices on refurbished gear through Canon’s official store?

I’m trying to decide whether to wait for the main Black Friday weekend or jump on any early Canon promos that might pop up. What’s been your experience with Canon early Black Friday deals in previous years, and how would you recommend timing a purchase in 2025?

Hey, I totally get planning ahead – I did exactly this last year for my R6 II and a couple RF lenses.

My quick take: **the real Canon deals usually start early and then just repeat** through Black Friday, not get massively better.

What I’ve seen the last 3 years:
- Canon + big retailers (B&H/Adorama/Amazon) roll out the big **instant rebates on bodies** in very early Nov and those prices mostly hold through Cyber Monday.
- Lenses sometimes get **slightly better bundles** (free filters, cards, small gift cards) closer to BF, but base price rarely drops more.
- Canon Refurb store can be amazing, but stock is chaos. I grabbed an RF 24–105 there for a big discount mid‑Nov and never saw it cheaper on BF itself.

If it were me in 2025:
- **Body (R6 II / R8):** once you see a solid instant rebate in early Nov at multiple retailers, I’d pull the trigger. Those usually *are* the BF price.
- **RF 24–105 / primes:** check Canon Refurb daily from late Oct, and use CamelCamelCamel / price trackers for Amazon to see if it’s a true deal.

So yeah, I’d absolutely be ready to buy as soon as the first legit November promo hits, rather than waiting for the exact BF weekend.

Hope this helps!

Hey, so from tracking Canon sales way too obsessively the last 5–6 years, I’d say: the *headline* early Black Friday deals look good, but the truly meaningful price drops on bodies usually land closer to actual BF / Cyber Monday or right after, especially for higher-end stuff like the R6 II.

Unfortunately, early November is often just Canon’s standard “instant savings” repackaged with a timer. B&H/Adorama/Best Buy/Amazon all mirror Canon’s MAP and promo structure, so real discounts tend to appear when:

- **Canon pushes a new rebate program** (you’ll see all major retailers change prices in sync within hours)
- **A newer body is about to hit** (e.g. R6 II got better deals once Canon clearly pushed R3/R5/R8 hard)

My pattern notes:
- **Bodies:** Best body-only prices: BF weekend → mid-December, or when a replacement is rumored. Early deals are rarely the absolute lowest.
- **RF lenses:** Mid-range zooms like RF 24–105 generally see similar % off early vs BF, but you sometimes get better bundles (free filters, extra batteries, or store gift cards) on the *actual* BF.
- **Refurb Canon store:** Honestly where I’ve gotten the best effective “deals”, but stock is volatile and early-bird BF refurb drops sell out in minutes. Also had issues with Canon’s refurb site glitching and carts failing at peak times.

For 2025, if I were you:
- If you want **R8**: it’s already the “value” body, so I wouldn’t expect crazy drops; a solid early promo + bonus (card, bag, small gift card) might be worth grabbing.
- For **R6 II** and RF 24–105: I’d wait till at least the week of BF and watch for a *new* Canon instant savings round, not just the same old rebate.

Tactically: set price alerts (CamelCamelCamel / Keepa for Amazon, photo-deal forums for B&H/Adorama), track current street prices now, and only jump on early deals if they’re clearly beating your baseline by at least ~10–15% or include something you’d buy anyway (Canon battery, quality SD/CFexpress, etc.).

FWIW, my biggest regret purchases were all early-Nov “looks good” deals that dropped another $100–200 two weeks later. Now I wait unless I see a genuine rebate change or I absolutely need the body for a paid job.

Hope this helps you plan instead of panic-buying like the rest of us 😂

Hey,

If you’re mainly thinking in terms of value-for-money, I’d treat early Black Friday as **“price floor scouting”** rather than “must buy now.”

What I’ve seen the last few years:
- **Bodies (like R6 II / R8):** Early Nov deals are often the *same* price as actual Black Friday or only $50–$100 off. If you see a solid body price early, it’s usually safe to grab because bodies don’t swing as wildly.
- **Lenses:** This is where the better value usually shows up closer to Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Things like the RF 24–105 and budget primes tend to get extra rebates, bundles, or gift card promos later.
- **Canon Refurb:** Honestly the best bang-for-buck if you’re flexible. I’ve snagged “like new” RF glass for 20–30% off. Their big refurb drops don’t always line up exactly with BF, but they’re often in the same window.

Practical approach I use:
1. Decide your **“happy price”** now for R6 II/R8 + lens (e.g. R8 kit under $1,199, RF 24–105 under $900, etc.).
2. Set price alerts on B&H/Adorama/CamelCamelCamel for Amazon.
3. If an early deal hits your target, buy and **stop looking** unless there’s a clear price protection/return policy.

I’d personally grab the body whenever it hits your target, then be a bit more patient on the lenses. That’s where you usually squeeze the most extra value.

Hope this helps!

Hey, so I track this stuff across brands for work and, unfortunately, Canon’s early Black Friday “deals” are usually weaker than what you’ll see from Sony and sometimes Nikon.

Sony tends to push more aggressive body + kit discounts earlier in November, while Canon often sticks to standard instant rebates and recycled bundles until closer to the actual BF weekend. On RF glass, Canon is particularly stingy early; Tamron/Sigma for Sony E or Nikon Z glass often see deeper early cuts than RF lenses do.

Refurb Canon bodies from the Canon store can be good, but even those haven’t dropped as hard early as, say, Sony’s body-only promos at B&H/Adorama.

If you’re set on Canon (R6 II / R8 + RF 24–105), I’d personally:
- Use early November to benchmark prices and watch competing brands’ promos (they pressure Canon to match closer to BF).
- Wait until the main BF/Cyber Monday window for Canon unless a refurb deal undercuts previous historical lows.

So yeah, I wouldn’t jump on *Canon* early deals unless the price is clearly at or below last year’s BF numbers.

Hope that helps a bit – happy to sanity‑check any specific offer you see later on.
