I'm in a bit of a panic right now because my sister is getting married in London in like two weeks and I'm the one in charge of the decorations. I spent all morning on my lunch break picking out these specific vintage style lanterns and table runners on the Amazon app here in the US. I had about 15 things in my cart ready to go but then I saw the shipping cost was insane since it's going overseas.
Someone told me I should just buy them on the UK Amazon site to save money but when I switched over to the .co.uk version everything just disappeared. My cart says zero items. I'm using the exact same login so I don't get why it's not showing my stuff? I really don't want to spend another three hours searching for all those specific items again especially because I can't even remember the brand names for some of them. Is there some kind of setting I need to turn on to make my cart follow me to different countries or are they totally separate? Sorry if this is a total newbie question I just have no clue what I'm doing and I'm running out of time to get these delivered...
Yeah, unfortunately Amazon treats every country site as a totally separate ecosystem, so your US cart is never gonna show up on the UK version. I found this out the hard way when I was ordering supplies for a trip last year. The databases just dont talk to each other because of regional inventory and tax laws, basically. You should be careful when trying to find exact matches on the UK site tho. I would suggest keeping these points in mind:
> Is there some kind of setting I need to turn on to make my cart follow me to different countries? Sadly they are totally separate systems! I found an amazing trick to save a fortune on shipping tho. Just copy the ASIN code from the US item description and paste it into the UK search bar. It works fantastic for finding identical items locally. Also, using Cart To Link is a lifesaver for migrating lists between regions quickly. Such a budget win for weddings!
Ugh, I totally feel your pain with the wedding stress... been there, done that, bought the overpriced t-shirt. Over the years I have realized that while the carts are totally walled off, there is a technical workaround I use when I am ordering stuff for my cousins in Europe. Basically, every single product on Amazon has an ASIN which is like a social security number for products. In my experience, the fastest way to bridge the gap without re-searching for hours is to open your US cart in one tab and the UK site in another. Go into the product details of your lantern or whatever on the US side, find the ASIN—it is a 10-character code usually found under Product Information—and copy-paste that directly into the UK search bar. 9 times out of 10, it pulls up the exact same item on the UK site if they carry it. I once had to migrate a list of like 40 tech parts for a build I was doing while visiting family abroad and this method saved my life. Just be careful tho, because sometimes the UK version might have slightly different specs if you are buying electronics, but for decorations like runners it should be a breeze. Also, check your browsing history on the app... it sometimes saves those US views even when you toggle countries, though its hit or miss. If all else fails, just keep both tabs open and do the old school side-by-side. You got this!
