I am honestly losing my mind trying to pick a solid prime for my 5D. Everything online says the nifty fifty is a must-have but it feels like a plastic toy and the bokeh is way too jittery for the professional look I want. Then I see everyone hyping up the 35mm f/1.4L II but it's way out of my budget and I've read weird things about focus accuracy on older DSLRs compared to the new mirrorless stuff. I have about 800 bucks saved for a used lens before I shoot a wedding in Chicago next month and I just need something sharp. What are the actually good EF primes for someone who isnt made of money?
Been thinking about your 5D setup and that wedding coming up. You really gotta be careful with third-party lenses on older DSLR bodies because focus calibration can be a total nightmare. Like someone mentioned, 35mm glass is usually the sweet spot for weddings, but I would suggest the Tamron SP series over the Sigma Art if you are worried about consistency.
