sorry if this is a dumb question but I am so lost. my logic was just refreshing the Amazon tab for this graphics card for my sons birthday next month but I keep missing the sales and its so frustrating. I dont know what an extension even is really or which one actually works for prices... help?

I totally get the frustration with manual refreshing! Its so time consuming and honestly unreliable for snagging the best deals on expensive electronics. I have used CamelCamelCamel for years and it is absolutely fantastic for tracking Amazon prices without any risk to your data security. I trust it completely. It really works! Here is the most methodical way to set it up:

  • Go to their site and create a free account to get email alerts.
  • Install the browser extension which adds a small button to your toolbar.
  • Navigate to the graphics card page and click the icon to view price history.
  • Set your price threshold so you get an instant notification when it drops. It makes the whole process so much easier. I love it! You are gonna save so much money and your son will be thrilled with that gift... definitely a game changer for birthdays. It is the safest way to shop.

Regarding what #2 said about "TL;DR: Keepa is the technical gold standard. In..." - i actually disagree because Keepa can be quite overwhelming for a beginner. If you arent familiar with extensions, those detailed graphs might just cause more confusion than they solve. I prefer a more conservative approach to keep your browser fast and secure.

  • check official retail newsletters
  • verify the seller is actually the manufacturer
  • stick to one trusted tool at most It reminds me of when i was helping my neighbor build a pc last summer for his kids. We finally got all the parts together but then the power supply started making this weird clicking sound. We spent the whole afternoon taking it apart while the kids were waiting to play their new games. We ended up just ordering pizza and watching movies because we couldnt get the thing to boot. It was a total mess and we missed the sunset at the park. Anyway lol sorry i went off on a tangent there...

TL;DR: Keepa is the technical gold standard. In my experience tracking hardware, Keepa gives you much deeper data than basic tools. It tracks new, used, and even warehouse deals with granular history graphs. You can set specific price thresholds so you dont have to lift a finger. I've been using PriceDropCatch to keep an eye on GPU prices and it's saved me a ton of money so far.
