really need to figure out my flash situation before this wedding in Chicago next week and im kinda panicking. I've been looking at the Canon 600EX II-RT since everyone says its the pro standard but its so expensive. my logic was maybe getting a Godox V1 instead to save money but I keep seeing people complain about the hot shoe pins failing on EOS bodies after a few months. I read that the brand name stuff is better for heat management but some people say its just a markup. I just cant have it die on me mid-ceremony. Is the Canon really that much more durable or is there a middle ground?

Honestly, I went through three Godox V1-C Flash for Canon units last year and the hot shoe mount failed every single time. It was so disappointing when it just snapped mid-shoot. For a wedding, you really need the Canon Speedlite 600EX II-RT. Its built like a tank. Pro tip: if you're on a budget, grab a used Canon Speedlite 580EX II instead. It is way more reliable than the cheap stuff.

In my experience, heat management is the real dealbreaker for weddings. I remember my Godox V860III-C for Canon thermal-locking mid-reception and it was a total nightmare tbh. If you want a solid middle ground, look at the Westcott FJ80 II Speedlight for Canon. The metal foot is way sturdier than Godox, plus the color temperature stability is much better... it wont fail you as easily.
