Hey everyone! I finally pulled the trigger on the DJI Air 3 Fly More Combo recently, and I am absolutely loving the flight time and that dual-camera setup. However, I am finding the shoulder bag that comes in the box to be a little underwhelming for my specific needs. It is fine for a quick walk, but it does not offer much protection against bumps, and I am constantly worried about the joysticks on my RC 2 controller getting snagged or damaged.
I do a lot of hiking in fairly rugged terrain, so I am looking for something much more durable to protect my investment. I need a case that can securely hold:
I am currently torn between a dedicated hard-shell waterproof case and a more versatile semi-rigid backpack that might be easier to carry on long trails. I want to ensure the foam is precision-cut so nothing shifts around during a climb. Does anyone have a specific brand or model they have been using for their Air 3 that they absolutely swear by for travel and outdoor use?
I totally agree, that stock bag is basically just a dust cover. For rugged terrain, the Nanuk 915 Case for DJI Air 3 Fly More Combo is elite because of the PowerClaw latches and pressure valve. But honestly, if youre climbing, the PGYTECH OneMo 2 Backpack 25L is much more practical. It fits the drone and RC 2 perfectly without the bulk of a plastic box.
I learned the hard way that the stock bag sucks after a minor tumble on a rocky trail. I used a STARTRC Waterproof Hard Case for DJI Air 3 for a bit which was okay, but I prefer the PGYTECH Safety Carrying Case for DJI Air 3 now. The PGYTECH feels way more secure for technical climbs because the latches are tougher and the foam doesnt flake over time. Worth the weight for the safety.
Honestly, Lykus Titan MA310 Waterproof Hard Case for DJI Air 3 is the way to go. Its way cheaper than big brands but protects everything perfectly on my rough hikes.
Just a quick question before I weigh in... how long are your typical hikes? Total pack weight is a huge factor for technical terrain. Honestly, just go with any of the GPC DJI Air 3 Cases. Their water-jet cut foam is much more precise than the cheap stuff, which keeps the RC 2 joysticks safe. Its a bit more cash upfront but the durability is worth it for peace of mind.
Been thinking about your hike situation and honestly, you might want to consider some mid-tier brands that dont get as much hype. Be careful with those super cheap generic cases from random sellers tho, cause the latches can fail when you least expect it. I would suggest looking into these:
