Which carrying case are you guys using for the Osmo Pocket 3 that actually fits the creator combo gear without being massive? I'm torn between the StartRC hard shell case and that PGYTECH one, but honestly, the PGYTECH looks a bit bulky for my backpack.

I'm heading to Japan in two weeks and need something sleek because I'm packing light. My budget is pretty tight, trying to stay under $30 max. The official bag that came with it is okay but it doesnt feel very protective for the gimbal and everything just rattles around inside. Is the StartRC one solid enough or should I just get a generic small electronics pouch... what do you think?

> Is the StartRC one solid enough or should I just get a generic small electronics pouch... I went through a few options myself before settling on a dedicated mold. Generic pouches are risky because they dont prevent the gimbal from twisting. I actually damaged a previous camera by being too cheap with a soft bag, so id definitely avoid that. If you are heading to Japan, you really want something that locks everything down while you are walking around. If you want reliability on a budget, look at the AMAGISN Carrying Case for Osmo Pocket 3. It is a hard-shell design that fits the creator combo parts snugly. It costs way less than the big brands and is pretty slim. Another solid choice is the Ulanzi PK-06 Protective Case for DJI Pocket 3 which is extremely thin for travel.

  • molded foam is a must for the gimbal head
  • hardshell protects against backpack pressure
  • small footprint saves space in your carry-on Basically, spending fifteen bucks now saves you a massive repair bill later. Dedicated cases are just safer tbh.

I have used both and the StartRC Hard Shell Case for DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is the one that fits your budget best. It is fairly slim compared to the PGYTECH version. The PGYTECH is high quality but it takes up way more depth in a backpack. For a light packing trip to Japan, the StartRC provides enough protection for the gimbal without the extra bulk. It fits the battery handle and the tripod just fine, though the mesh pocket is a bit tight if you try to cram every single cable in there. Quick tip... always double check that the gimbal head is centered in the molded slot before closing the lid. If it shifts even a little, the hard shell can press against the glass or the motors, which isnt ideal. If you want something even more compact, check out the Sunnylife Mini Carrying Case for Osmo Pocket 3. It is basically just a shell for the unit itself and a few small extras. Definitely avoid generic pouches since the Pocket 3 is too fragile for that. You want those specific cutouts to keep the gimbal from moving. Japan is an incredible place for filming, so you will definitely appreciate having something you can just grab and go. Let me know if you have other gear questions before you fly out.

Building on the earlier suggestion, are you planning to bring the wide-angle lens and the battery handle every day? That dictates how tiny you can go. In my experience, watch out for these:

  • generic pouches offer zero gimbal support and that head is fragile as heck
  • loose accessories will scratch your screen if theyre rattling around Ive seen too many people ruin gear trying to pack too light... what accessories are you prioritizing for Japan?
