Hey everyone! I finally pulled the trigger on the DJI Air 3 recently, and man, those dual cameras are absolutely incredible. I’ve been taking it out every weekend, but I’m starting to run into a bit of a logistical headache when it comes to keeping this thing in the air.
I’ve got the Fly More Combo, which means I’m juggling three of those beefy Intelligent Flight Batteries. While the official DJI charging hub is “fine,” I’m finding it pretty frustrating that it only charges them sequentially. After a long day of shooting 4K footage, it feels like it takes an eternity to get all three back to 100% because the hub waits for one battery to be completely finished before it even touches the next one. When I have a sunrise shoot planned for the next morning, I find myself waking up in the middle of the night just to check if they're actually progressing.
I’ve been scouring Amazon and a few drone blogs for third-party "parallel" chargers that can juice up all three batteries simultaneously. I’ve seen some brands like Hanatora or various GaN-based multi-port docks popping up, but I’m honestly a little nervous. These batteries aren't cheap, and the last thing I want to do is fry the internal circuitry or compromise the long-term battery health just to save a couple of hours. I'm specifically looking for something that supports at least 65W to 100W PD charging so I'm not sacrifice speed for convenience.
Does anyone here have experience with a reliable, safe third-party charger that they actually trust with their Air 3 gear? I’d love to find something that is relatively portable for travel but powerful enough to handle parallel charging without getting dangerously hot.
What are you guys using to get back in the sky faster, and have you noticed any impact on your battery life cycles after switching away from the official DJI hub?
So basically the consensus is choosing between the Hanatora Air 3 Battery Parallel Charger or the STARTRC Air 3 Charging Hub. I actually melted a port on a cheap hub once—scary as hell!
1. Try the YX Air 3 6-in-1 Digital Display Charger for better heat management.
2. Lesson learned: ALWAYS use a quality brick like the Satechi 108W USB-C GaN Charger.
Safety is EVERYTHING with these batteries!
Respectfully, I'd consider another option. tbh the STARTRC DJI Air 3 Battery Charging Hub is way cheaper and supports the 100W PD charging you need... idk why pay more for big brands??
Just catching up on this thread and oh man, I totally feel u on the anxiety... honestly those Air 3 batteries are way too expensive to gamble with. I'm always pretty cautious about third-party gear because I actually had a generic parallel hub get *scary* hot once—literally smelled like melting plastic. Never again!
If you're gonna go that route, I'd say just get any high-wattage GaN wall brick from a big name like **Satechi** or maybe **UGREEN**. They usually have much better safety certs and thermal management than the random no-name docks you see on Amazon. Tbh, it's worth the extra few bucks for the peace of mind.
Pro tip: there's a great resource at the **Mavic Pilots forum** where users do deep dives into charging cycles and technical tear-downs. It's super helpful for checking if a brand is actually legit or just marketing fluff. Definitely check the battery health threads there before committing. I mean, you gotta be careful with the internal circuitry on these things... good luck tho!
Basically, parallel charging splits the input current across all batteries simultaneously. This matters cuz you avoid the "sequential bottleneck" where the hub waits for one battery to finish its slow balancing phase before starting the next.
In my experience, this setup is the way to go:
* Hanatora 4-in-1 Parallel Battery Charger for DJI Air 3
* Anker 737 Charger GaNPrime 120W
It's actually been sooo reliable for me... definitely makes those sunrise shoots way easier!!
Same setup here, love it
