Finally got an M10 after saving forever but now Im broke and need one lens for a Tokyo trip next month. Im stuck between two very different vibes. Im looking at a used 35mm Summicron v4 and the 28mm Elmarit ASPH.

The 28mm is way more portable which is huge for walking 10 miles a day but then again the 35mm is just... well its a cron. My budgets capped at around $2100 so its tight for the Leica glass. Is the 28mm too wide for general street stuff in a crowded city or should I just stretch the budget for the 35? Cant decide which way to go honestly...

Saw this earlier and had to chime in because Tokyo is just incredible for street stuff! I spent two weeks there hitting the pavements in Ginza and Shinjuku, and trust me, your feet will thank you for going light. I used to be a 35mm purist until I tried the Leica 28mm Elmarit-M f/2.8 ASPH and realized how much more of the city atmosphere I could capture in those tight alleys. Its a tiny masterpiece and doesn't block the viewfinder at all which is huge for quick shots! If that price tag is making you sweat tho, ngl you should look at the Voigtlander Ultron 28mm f/2.0 Vintage Line Aspherical VM. It is basically as sharp as the Elmarit but faster and way cheaper. You could grab that and still have over a grand left for the actual trip. The technical performance is amazing and it handles those bright city lights like a champ. Portability is king for 10 mile days tho!
