I recently switched over to a Micro Four Thirds setup for my travel photography, and I’m absolutely loving how compact everything is! However, I’m starting to realize that the smaller form factor comes with its own unique needs. I’ve already got a couple of fast primes, but I feel like I’m missing those 'quality of life' extras. Are there specific spare battery brands or compact thumb grips you swear by for better handling? I’m also looking for strap or bag recommendations that won't overwhelm a smaller body like the GX85 or OM-D series. What are the absolute must-have accessories you think every MFT shooter needs in their bag to get the most out of the system?

Ok so I feel u on the small form factor... it's great but the ergonomics can be a struggle tbh. I've had some bad luck with cheap accessories so here is what I lowkey swear by now after some fails: - Batteries: Avoid the super cheap clones. I had issues with some no-name ones swelling inside my camera which was terrifying! Now I only trust Wasabi Power Battery 2-Pack and Charger for Panasonic DMW-BLG10 if I'm not buying OEM.
- Grip: For the GX85, a thumb grip is basically a life saver. I use the Haoge THB-GR Metal Hot Shoe Thumb Up Grip. It makes one-handed shooting way more stable.
- Strap: Thick straps were not as good as expected and felt bulky. The Peak Design Leash Camera Strap is perfect and low-profile.
- Bag: The Peak Design Everyday Sling 3L v2 is king for MFT travel. gl! 👍

In my experience, handling is everything with MFT. I'm still kinda new to this setup but here is what i've found so far: - **Grips**: Lensmate Panasonic GX85 Folding Thumb Grip vs generic ones. Lensmate doesnt block ur dials!!
- **Bags**: Tenba Skyline 10 Shoulder Bag is lighter, but Think Tank Mirrorless Mover 10 has way better padding.
- **Power**: Patona Platinum DMW-BLG10 1025mAh Batteries are way more reliable than cheap clones. gl!!

Honestly, after years of doing this, I've realized that reliability is the ONE thing you shouldn't compromise on with these smaller bodies, you know? I once had a cheap third-party mount basically crumble on me mid-shoot, and it was a total nightmare. Since then, I've been super cautious about what I actually trust to hold my gear. If ur looking for peace of mind, here is my general approach:
- For better handling and protection, go with **SmallRig**. You really can't go wrong with their hardware; it's rugged and makes the smaller bodies much easier to hold without adding too much weight.
- For bags, I'd suggest looking at **Lowepro**. Their stuff is built like a tank and the weather protection is top-tier (at least thats what worked for me during some messy travel).
- Just get any high-speed cards from **SanDisk**. I've had too many generic ones fail, and losing data is honestly the worst feeling ever. Basically, I always prioritize build quality over saving a few dollars. It’s just safer for the long haul, right?
