Ive been shooting with my GX85 for a while now mostly just using the 12-32 kit lens but Im finally heading to Tokyo next month and I really want to step up my street photography game. The kit lens is okay during the day but as soon as the sun goes down it just struggles and I want that nice bokeh and better low light performance for the neon streets. Im trying to decide between a couple of primes and Im totally stuck.
I was looking at the Panasonic Leica 15mm f1.7 because people say the rendering is amazing and it matches the lumix bodies so well but its a bit pricey even used. Then theres the Olympus 17mm f1.8 which is a bit more affordable and has that cool manual focus clutch thing which seems handy for zone focusing. I also keep seeing the 20mm f1.7 mentioned because its so tiny but Ive heard the autofocus is kinda sluggish and I dont want to miss shots of people walking by.
My budget is strictly under 500 bucks so Im hunting on eBay or MPB to save some cash. If you had to pick one for a week of heavy walking and night shooting which one would you grab? Im leaning toward the 15mm but is the 17mm oly just as good for a lot less cash or is the slow focus on the 20mm really that bad...
I've used the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 17mm f1.8 for years on my GX85 and honestly I'm totally satisfied with it. Last time I was in Shinjuku, that manual focus clutch was a lifesaver for quick zone focusing at night. It works well and I've had no complaints with the focus speed.

Also, been thinking about your question for a few hours. I am a pretty cautious buyer and spent weeks researching before I finally pulled the trigger on the Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 15mm f1.7 ASPH. Honestly, I am so satisfied with it. It just works well every time and feels like a safe bet for a trip like Tokyo where you dont want to be fiddling with gear. If you want to save some cash but keep that high-end quality, look for the DJI 15mm f1.7 Prime Lens on the used market. It is basically the exact same lens but usually goes for a lot less because it was originally sold for drones. I was kinda nervous about buying one at first, but it works perfectly on my Lumix. Its a very reliable way to get that fast low light performance for the neon streets without blowing your whole budget.
