The technical specs on the Nikon Z6 III represent a massive jump, especially with that partially stacked sensor. However, i would suggest being very cautious about your media and power setup if you want to actually hit those advertised speeds.

  • make sure to use high-performance cards like the Delkin Devices 128GB BLACK CFexpress Type B because the 6K 60p N-RAW will choke slower cards
  • you might want to consider picking up an extra Nikon EN-EL15c Rechargeable Li-ion Battery since that high-res EVF is gonna be quite power-hungry
  • check your pc specs because editing that 12-bit footage takes a lot of juice Be careful with the thermals if you're shooting in high ambient temperatures. Its a huge step up from the Z6 II but the extra performance definitely brings more heat and data demands.

Whistler604 - good point! That partially stacked sensor is gonna be such a game changer for autofocus, seriously amazing stuff from Nikon!! Im totally with you on the media speed tho... it would be a total nightmare to have the buffer hang mid-shoot because of a slow card. I did some digging into slightly cheaper options because lets be real, $2500 for the body already hurts the wallet lol. If you want something super reliable but maybe a bit better on the budget, check out the ProGrade Digital CFexpress Type B Gold 256GB. Its usually a bit cheaper per gig than the top-tier Delkin cards but still hits those sustained speeds you need for 6K. I saw it on sale for around $160 recently which is such a steal! Also for the power thing, instead of just buying tons of batteries, I love using a high-wattage power bank for long days. Something like the Anker 737 Power Bank PowerCore 24K works fantastic for PD charging while you shoot. It keeps the camera going forever and feels way safer than swapping batteries every hour in the dust or worrying about a clip cutting out! Cant wait to see everyone get their hands on this beast!
