I just got the Nikon Z8 and I'm honestly terrified I'm gonna break it. I saved up forever for this but now I realize I don't have any gear for my trip to Iceland in two weeks. I've only ever used my phone for photos so this whole thing is way over my head and I'm stressing out. I only have about $200 left after buying the camera body. People keep talking about filters and extra cards and I'm just so lost. What are the absolute must-have things I need to pack so I dont mess this up or run out of battery in the middle of nowhere? Sorry if this is a stupid question I'm just really overwhelmed...

Honestly, 200 bucks is kinda tight for a Z8 because everything for this beast is pricey. Its unfortunate but the official batteries like the Nikon EN-EL15c Rechargeable Li-ion Battery are like seventy bucks and they dont even last that long in the cold. Since you are going to Iceland, you 100 percent need at least one spare. I had issues with cheap off-brand batteries dying in ten minutes near waterfalls so dont go too cheap there, it is just not worth the risk with a camera this nice. For storage, a high-end CFexpress card is gonna blow your whole budget immediately. Just grab a fast SD card for now to get you through the trip. The SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB SDXC UHS-I Card is solid and reliable. It wont give you the crazy video specs or 20fps raw bursts, but for a beginner, it is plenty and wont crash on you. Also, Iceland is wet. Like, constant mist and random rain. I bought a fancy cover once and it was not as good as expected, basically a glorified plastic bag. Save your money and just use a heavy duty dry bag or the Peak Design Shell Camera Cover Medium if you want something that actually fits. Tbh, just make sure you have a decent strap so you dont drop it. The Peak Design Slide Camera Strap Black is what I use and it is way better than the one that comes in the box. Just focus on power and storage first or you will be carrying a very expensive paperweight by noon... trust me.

What lens are you bringing? Ive been satisfied with these card choices:

@Reply #2 - good point! In my experience, you really need to leverage that CFexpress slot to handle the Z8's high bitrates properly. I've tried many setups over the years, and these two work best for a tight budget:
