Ive been staring at the price of the ASUS ProArt monitors for weeks now because I really need a better screen for my color grading work by the end of October but my budget is strictly under 500 bucks. Honestly sitting there hitting refresh on the Chrome tab every hour is killing my productivity lol. I really need something that just pops up a notification on my Windows desktop so I dont have to think about it. I'm basically torn between a few ways to do this and cant decide which is the most reliable for real-time stuff.
Keepa seems to be the one everyone talks about but the graphs are so overwhelming and I'm not sure if the desktop alerts are actually instant or if there is a lag. Then I was looking at CamelCamelCamel but I'm worried about missing the email alerts since my inbox is a total graveyard lately. I also found this app called Price Pulse in the Microsoft store but the reviews are pretty old so I'm worried it might be broken or something. Is it better to just stick with a browser extension that has desktop permissions or is there a dedicated Windows app that actually works better for those quick lightning deals? I really dont want to miss a drop because I was busy in a meeting...
Skip those random Windows Store apps, they usually break after a week because Amazon updates their backend constantly. In my experience, Keepa is the only one worth using for real-time tracking. I've tried many tools over the years and browser-based push notifications are way faster than email. Just filter out the graph noise and set a target price. It pops up instantly on your desktop when the price hits.
honestly i'd be careful with those random store apps since they break often. i usually stick with this tool because it pings your desktop directly and doesn't require an email login. just set your price target for the asus under $500 and it should work fine. it's a bit more stable for tracking drops than hoping an old app still works with amazon's api.
Just saw this and totally get the frustration. Honestly, i've had the best luck using Distill Web Monitor for my tech upgrades. It's an extension rather than a standalone app, but it works way better for real-time tracking because it monitors the actual HTML on the page. I used it to grab an ASUS ProArt PA278QV for way under retail last year and was super happy with the results. You just select the price area on the screen, set a check interval like 5 or 10 minutes, and it'll chime and pop up a Windows notification the second that number moves. It feels way more reliable than waiting for an email from CamelCamelCamel which can sometimes be delayed by 20-30 minutes... and by then the lightning deals are usually gone. The cool thing is you can run it locally in your browser so there's no middleman or lag. Just keep the tab pinned. Since you're on a tight 500 dollar budget, maybe track the 27-inch 1440p versions because they dip into the 300s pretty often lately. No complaints here with the setup, it's saved me a ton of cash without me having to obsessively check tabs during work. TL;DR: Use the Distill Web Monitor extension. Select the price element on the page and it'll give you instant desktop pings whenever it drops.
