My sisters wedding is coming up in October in Vermont and I really want to take some decent shots of the ceremony without just relying on my old iPhone. My budget is pretty firm at $600 max because travel is expensive lol. Ive been looking at the Canon R100 since its brand new and cheap but people online seem to hate the fixed screen. Then there is the Sony a6000 which is older but everyone says the autofocus is still solid. Or maybe a used Fuji X-T200 for the colors? Im mostly gonna be doing portraits and landscapes. Which one makes the most sense for a total newbie who doesnt want to spend hours editing...

I would suggest being very careful before you decide on the Canon R100. While it is affordable, that fixed screen is going to be a real struggle for wedding shots where you might need different angles. Based on my experience, you should make sure to look at a used Fujifilm X-T200 Mirrorless Camera with 15-45mm Lens because the colors are perfect if you want to skip editing. Fuji has these film simulations that are basically a cheat code for nice portraits. You might also want to consider the Sony Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 16-50mm Lens. Be careful though, the menu system is a bit of a mess for beginners, and the battery life is pretty short. It is still a solid choice for portraits because the autofocus stays locked on really well. For landscapes, the Fuji sensor generally handles those Vermont fall colors much better imo... dont forget extra batteries.

Just saw this! Definitely get the Sony a6100 24.2MP 4K Mirrorless! The real-time tracking is totally amazing for busy weddings.

  • fast hybrid autofocus
  • flip touchscreen Youll take fantastic photos!

I remember struggling with my first wedding budget too. Grab a used Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV 20.3MP Mirrorless, it handles the Vermont greenery perfectly without much editing.
