Im so excited because Im finally taking a photography class next month but I have like zero idea what Im doing and I really need a camera. My budget is super tight at $500 max. Sorry if this sounds dumb but what is the best mirrorless camera for someone who knows nothing?

To add to the point above, the a6000 is a classic, but honestly you should look at the Canon EOS M50 Mark II Mirrorless Camera with EF-M 15-45mm Lens too! Its super intuitive for beginners because the menus are way easier to navigate than Sony's. Plus the fully articulating touchscreen is fantastic for learning different angles. Youll love how easy it makes everything while youre still figuring stuff out!

To add to the point above, I've tried many and Panasonic LUMIX G7 4K Mirrorless with 14-42mm Lens is technically superior. Its sensor and 4K features offer better value for under $500.
