What's the best budget landscape lens for the R6 Mark II that wont break the bank? I'm honestly so done with this kit lens its so soft and useless for my sunrise hikes in Oregon. I saved up for the body but now I'm broke and need something sharp under 600 bucks before my trip next month...
Honestly, I've tried many setups over the years and if you're on a tight budget after dropping cash on that R6 II, look at the Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 STM. Its tiny and way sharper than people give it credit for. Perfect for those Oregon vistas when you want that massive scale. If 16mm feels too wide, Id seriously consider hunting down a used Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM and grabbing the Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R. That combo has been my workhorse for landscape stuff for a decade and it still holds up. You can usually find the lens for like 300 bucks used. Its built like a tank and definitely wont let you down in the damp Oregon weather compared to a kit lens. Just keep an eye on those second hand markets and youll have plenty of cash left for your trip gas money... those Oregon sunrises are gonna look killer with some real glass.
Yo i just saw this and man i feel your pain!! Like someone mentioned, you really gotta look at the used market if you want quality glass without eating ramen for a month. Being a long-time shooter, i can tell you that the reliability on older gear is basically the same as the new stuff. There was a time when i first upgraded and had zero bucks left for glass... it was a struggle but honestly taught me so much. Here are a few things that totally saved me back then:
Commenting to find later
Coming back to this cuz I'm a total nerd for lens data and MTF charts! I totally feel you on the body-rich-lens-poor struggle... I did the exact same thing when I first upgraded my kit. I spent every cent on the sensor and had basically zero left for glass lol. It was a nightmare until I realized how much value is in the used market.
