I finally pulled the trigger on the X-T5 after using my old X-T2 for years but now I need a proper portrait lens for my sisters wedding in Vermont next month. I've been looking at the Fuji 56mm f1.2 R WR because everyone says the rendering is magical but its honestly pushing my budget a bit at $900. On the other hand the Sigma 56mm f1.4 is way cheaper and tiny but I worry the bokeh wont look as nice for the outdoor ceremony. Then there is the Viltrox 75mm 1.2 which looks amazing for the price but maybe too long for a crowded reception? Im torn between the Fuji and the Viltrox mostly... which one would you pick for a one-lens wedding kit?
honestly skip the expensive new WR and just hunt down the original Fujifilm Fujinon XF 56mm f1.2 R on the used market. ive shot dozens of events with it over the years and it still has that glow everyone loves. 75mm is definitely gonna be too tight for a busy reception imo... 56mm is much more versatile for a one-lens wedding setup.
> its honestly pushing my budget a bit at $900 I was in the same boat and ended up really happy with the Sigma 56mm f1.4 DC DN Contemporary Fujifilm X Mount. Technically, it punches way above its weight. Used it for a backyard shoot recently and the center sharpness at f/1.4 is just clinical. It doesnt have the Fuji aperture ring, but for half the price, the autofocus speed and weight savings made it a no-brainer for my kit.
unfortunately that expensive fuji af is not as good as expected. just save some cash and grab the Viltrox 75mm f/1.2 AF Pro Fujifilm X Mount. the resolving power is technically superior and much cheaper.
