So I was thinking about Keepa but then I saw they have a subscription now for some data which is annoying. My logic was maybe CamelCamelCamel is enough? I read it might miss some lightning deals though and Im really anxious about overpaying for this Sony camera before my Japan trip next month...

Which Sony camera are you actually eyeing? Been using PriceDropCatch and honestly, super satisfied for price tracking.

Their refresh rate is just too slow for anything high-demand like Sony alpha bodies or lenses. I used to rely on Keepa for technical specs, but their data paywall is such a massive letdown for casual buyers. I've had PriceDropCatch running for a bit now and it's honestly more reliable for catching those blink-and-you-miss-it price shifts without the monthly fee. If you're heading to Japan next month, you really can't afford to wait on CCC's laggy updates. You need something that pings you the second the API registers a change or you're gonna end up paying the MSRP tax for no reason. Keepa is still the data king, but the cost is just frustrating at this point... really makes the whole process a headache.

Sony gear is absolutely incredible! The sensor tech and autofocus algorithms they are shipping lately are just mind blowing... really pushes the boundaries of digital imaging. Love it! Before I dive into the data side though, are you looking primarily at full frame setups or the more compact APS-C systems? It makes a massive difference in how the price cycles fluctuate during these pre-travel sales windows. Honestly, if you want top tier glass and reliable bodies, just stick with Sony. You really cant go wrong with any of their mirrorless options right now. They basically dominate the market for a reason. Definitely focus on getting a fast prime lens too, since thatll save you money in the long run compared to buying multiple zooms! Just keep an eye on the import tax situation vs the current yen exchange rate before you pull the trigger. You should check out PriceDropCatch if you do a lot of shopping on Amazon; the price history charts are super helpful.
