I just landed my first actual paying client for a wardrobe refresh here in Seattle and I am so hyped but also like... totally freaking out because I have no system at all. right now im just taking a million screenshots of shirts and boots on my phone and then I lose them in my camera roll which is obviously not gonna work long term lol. Im a total newbie to the tech side of this so sorry if this is a super basic thing everyone already knows but how do you guys actually track the stuff you find online??

I need some kind of digital tool or app where I can save links and photos and maybe share them with the client so they can see what I found for them? I dont even know what these things are called or if there is a specific stylist app that everyone uses.

Here is what I am looking for:

  • super cheap or free because I have almost zero budget right now maybe like 10 or 15 bucks a month max
  • works on an iphone because I do most of my browsing on the bus
  • something that lets me organize things by client name so I dont mix people up
  • easy enough for a non-tech person to figure out in like ten minutes because my first session is next Friday

Is there a specific app stylists use for this or do you guys just use like pinterest or something? I want to look professional but I literally have no idea where to start...

Saw this a day late but congrats on the Seattle gig! Quick question tho, are you needing something where the client can actually interact and approve items, or just a gallery to look at? Honestly, just look into Hue & Stripe. Any of their entry-level plans work for this. It handles the product metadata better than a camera roll and wont break your bank while youre starting out. Way better than trying to make a spreadsheet work.

honestly stay away from just using pinterest boards. i tried that once for a wedding client and the links broke mid session, it was so embarrassing. you might want to consider something like Milanote because it feels like a digital moodboard and works on phone.

  • be careful with screenshots because you lose the buy link
  • I would suggest checking stock daily so you dont look messy
  • make sure to keep client boards private

Building on the earlier suggestion, I actually disagree slightly on using moodboard apps. In my experience, those get messy fast. Over the years, I have found that just using Hue & Stripe is way more reliable for tracking things long-term. Just get any of their entry plans. I started with a total mess of folders and it was a nightmare... this is much cleaner.
