TL;DR: Don't jump on any "pre-order" buttons yet. Wait for the official Sony announcement to avoid placeholder scams. Adding my two cents here... basically, the mid-range market is wild right now. Before you commit to the Sony Alpha 7 V, what specific specs are you actually looking for? Are you after better AI autofocus or just more megapixels? Honestly, I'm curious if you've cross-shopped with the Nikon Z6 III yet. Nikon really shook things up recently, and from a market perspective, Sony is definitely feeling the pressure to over-deliver on this one. Quick tip: Stick to the major retailers like B&H or Adorama for the *actual* pre-order launch. Most other "trackers" this early are just fishing for clicks.

To add to the point above: totally agree with being super cautious right now! Honestly, I am in the exact same boat as you and it is driving me crazy... I have been refreshing the major retailer pages every single morning for like two months now and still nothing but placeholder pages and dead links. I dont trust those sketchy third party sites at all so I am just stuck waiting! It is so frustrating because I really want to upgrade my setup so bad!
- checked the big stores every day
- setup my own custom notification scripts
- joined three different gear groups I am just so stoked for this release because the tech is gonna be fantastic! If you find anything solid please let me know, I am literally losing sleep over this amazing gear... really hope something drops soon tho.
