just got an a6400 for my sisters wedding in June and Im so stoked! Ive been looking at the Godox TT685S since its cheap but then I saw the Sony HVL-F28M and now Im just confused if the extra money is worth the small size. which flash is actually best for indoor shots?
Unfortunately, those ultra-compact flashes often fail to deliver the recycle speeds you actually need for a fast-paced wedding. I have had issues with thermal throttling and slow recharging during critical moments. A more robust alternative is the Nissin i60A for Sony. If you want something truly reliable, the Godox V1-S Round Head Flash for Sony is much better because the lithium battery wont quit halfway through the reception like AA cells do.
caught this thread a bit late but honestly just stick with the first party stuff. i had a nightmare experience a few years ago using a cheaper alternative at a summer reception. the unit didnt have a proper thermal cutoff and it actually started smelling like ozone halfway through the toasts. it got so hot it warped the plastic near the battery compartment... super sketchy. since then, ive realized that the specific data communication between the camera and flash is way more stable when you stay within the brand ecosystem. sony makes sure the voltage triggers are exactly what the sensor expects so you dont get those weird sync errors or circuit spikes. just get any Sony External Flash that fits your budget. you want something that wont fry your hot shoe or overheat when youre firing off bursts during the cake cutting. reliability is basically everything when youre shooting a one-time wedding.
Bookmarked, thanks!
