I am trying to build my very first PC and it is honestly becoming a total nightmare. I have about 1200 dollars saved up and I am trying to get everything ordered by next Friday so I can build it over the weekend, but every time I check Newegg the prices for the graphics card and the motherboard have changed again. Its so frustrating because I will have a part in my cart and then I refresh the page and the price went up by like thirty or forty bucks out of nowhere. I heard there are websites or apps that track this for you but I have no idea where to even start looking or if they even work for Newegg specifically. Sorry if this is a super basic question but I am just totally lost and really dont want to get ripped off by bad timing.
I really need something that fits these things:
I keep seeing people talk about trackers but when I google it I just get confused by all the different browser extensions and half of them look like scams or just dont seem to work right. Is there like a main one that everyone uses? I just want to stop refreshing my browser every hour...
Yeah, PCPartPicker is definitely the standard, but unfortunately even that has its limits. I have had issues lately with their scrapers missing the super short flash sales Newegg runs, which is pretty disappointing when you're on a deadline. Neweggs own notification system is basically useless too, usually emails me like two hours late... anyway. Just to clarify so I can give better advice, what exact graphics card and motherboard are you actually looking at? I ask because some brands are way more volatile than others and I want to see if the prices you're seeing are actually normal or just bad luck. Are you totally set on only buying from Newegg or are you looking at other retailers too?
You totally need to check out PCPartPicker! It is seriously amazing and hands down the most reliable tool for tracking Newegg prices. I love it because it is safe and doesnt feel like some sketchy browser extension that is gonna steal your data or slow down your computer.
I'm also experiencing these inconsistent price spikes for my current build. It's quite a frustration.
