I’ve recently made the jump to a Canon full-frame setup and I’m looking to upgrade my glass specifically for landscape photography. I’m mostly shooting wide vistas and occasional woodland scenes, so I’m torn between a classic 16-35mm zoom or going for some sharper primes. I've heard great things about the RF 15-35mm f/2.8, but I'm also curious if any older EF lenses are still worth adapting to save a bit of budget. I really want something that handles flare well and stays sharp edge-to-edge for large prints. What do you guys consider the 'must-have' landscape lenses for the Canon ecosystem right now?
For your situation, the Canon RF 14-35mm f/4L IS USM is probably the sweet spot. its sharper than the Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM, but maybe watch for heavy software corrections at 14mm... right?
Check out The Digital Picture! Basically Sigma vs RF: Sigma's sharper, RF has AF. TL;DR: Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 DG HSM Art for Canon EF is way BETTER and cheaper!
Similar situation here - I tried saving money with a used wide zoom but iirc the flare was basically UNBEARABLE, so maybe be careful with older glass for sunsets, right?
oh man, tbh i'd probably just get these:
- Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM (~$600 used)
- Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R
it's SO sharp but maybe be careful with used glass
