Hey everyone,

So, I'm already starting to think about Black Friday 2025 (yeah, I know, it's early!). I'm finally planning to upgrade my camera gear, and Black Friday seems like the perfect opportunity to snag some deals. I'm mostly interested in a new camera body and maybe one or two lenses, depending on the discounts I can find.

My current setup is pretty basic, and it's definitely showing its age. I'm thinking of moving to a mirrorless system, maybe something from Sony or Canon, but I'm open to suggestions. I shoot mostly landscapes and wildlife, so a good zoom lens is a must, and I'd love to get a decent prime lens for portrait work as well. I've been saving up for a while, but I still want to be smart about my purchases and get the most bang for my buck.

Last year, I heard some people were disappointed with the Black Friday camera deals. They said a lot of the 'deals' were just slightly discounted older models or bundled with accessories they didn't need. That's what I'm hoping to avoid this time around. I'm specifically interested in knowing if anyone has any insights into which retailers typically offer the best camera and lens deals. Also, are there any specific brands or models that historically see bigger discounts during Black Friday?

Basically, I'm trying to figure out if it's worth waiting for Black Friday 2025 to make these purchases, or if I should just buy them now when I see a decent price. I'm especially interested in deals on a Sony a7 IV or a Canon EOS R6, and maybe a Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 lens. Any advice or past experiences you could share would be greatly appreciated!

So, to get to the point: **Based on previous years, is Black Friday actually a good time to find *genuine* deals on cameras and lenses, specifically those newer models, or is it mostly hype? And, if it *is* a good time, which retailers or brands should I be keeping a close eye on?**

Hot camera deals are always soldout very soon. You need use Amazon Price Tracker to track the price of cameras and lenses. I suggest this website: https://www.whenpricedrop.com/

B&H Photo Video Early Black Friday deals are now already live: https://bhpho.to/4nyjv0o

Regarding what #4 said about "Basicly, you can find best deals at Amazon, B&H Photo Video, Adorma," they are right about the locations, but the strategy needs to be a bit more specific if you're looking for high performance gear. This thread has already touched on the big retailers and the refurbished route, which are both solid. However, since you're looking at the Sony a7 IV Mirrorless Camera or the Canon EOS R6 Mark II, keep in mind that these brands usually have fixed promotional pricing. You wont find one store significantly cheaper than the others on the body alone because the manufacturers set the floor. The real trick to getting a "deal" is looking at the kits. Sometimes Adorama or B&H will bundle a high-speed SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO UHS-II SDXC or even a decent camera bag for the same price as the body alone. That is where the value is. For that Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2, third-party lenses like Tamron and Sigma actually tend to see deeper percentage cuts than native glass during Black Friday, so that is definitely worth waiting for. Tbh, if you see a decent discount in late October or early November, just grab it. The stock for popular stuff like the a7 IV tends to disappear fast once the actual Black Friday weekend hits, and the price rarely drops further than the early holiday sales anyway...

Canon, Nikon, Sony, and Panasonic are known for offering great discounts on their top models, and it's not just cameras - lenses, tripods, memory cards, and software will also be on sale. I'd definitely recommend checking out B&H Photo and Adorama as they often offer some of the best discounts on camera gear during Black Friday

Don't forget used camera stores such as KEH and MPB, they usually have plenty of great deals and sales during Black Friday & Cyber Monday.

Best places to hunt for deals: B&H Photo: A go-to for photography professionals, B&H often offers some of the best discounts on camera gear during Black Friday. Adorama: Similar to B&H, Adorama is a favorite among photographers, offering discounts on top brands and bundling deals with lenses and accessories. Don't sleep on Best Buy either - they usually have competitive prices on popular models and their customer service is solid for returns if needed.

Hey! I totally get the Black Friday camera hunt! It's exciting but can be tricky. I think there's another angle to consider besides just Black Friday discounts: refurbished gear! Sometimes you can find AMAZING deals on almost-new cameras and lenses year-round, and the savings can be even better than Black Friday!

For example, check out the Sony Outlet or Canon Refurbished sections on their websites. You might find an a7 III or even an a7 IV (or similar Canon models) for a significant discount. Also, third-party sellers like KEH Camera and MPB Photographic are great for used lenses; they carefully grade their gear, so you know what you're getting! I got my Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 GM lens from KEH, and it was in 'Excellent' condition – looked brand new! Plus, these refurbs often come with a warranty, which is fantastic.

It's worth checking these sites regularly instead of solely relying on Black Friday. You might stumble upon a deal that's even better! Happy hunting, and good luck finding the perfect gear!
