Hey everyone! I've been eyeing the Sennheiser MKE 600 shotgun mic for my YouTube channel for months now, and I'm really hoping to snag it during the upcoming Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales. The regular price of around $300-350 is a bit steep for my current budget, so I'm crossing my fingers for some decent discounts.

Has anyone spotted any early Black Friday deals on the MKE 600, or do you know from previous years which stores tend to discount Sennheiser mics the most? I'm hoping to keep it under $250 if possible. Any tips or heads up would be hugely appreciated!

Its great to see everyone pitching in with the deal alerts. Basically, if you havent checked the big retailers or considered the used market like others mentioned, thats where the action is to hit that price point. One thing I have been thinking about tho... you really gotta double check the compatibility with your specific camera or recorder first. I have seen a lot of guys get these home and then realize they need extra adapters or have gain issues depending on their gear. Honestly, just go to YouTube and search for mke 600 compatibility guide. There is like one really good video that covers every single camera connection scenario and explains the battery vs phantom power stuff perfectly. Its way better than any of us trying to explain it here. Just check the first few results or search the filmmaking sub on Reddit, youll find it.

Hey! Been there with the MKE 600 hunt – actually grabbed mine during last year's BF for around $240 after watching prices for months. From my experience, eBay tends to have great deals on Sennheiser MKE 600 Pro Audio Microphones, especially from sellers offloading barely-used units.

Honestly, the wind rejection on this mic is everything they say it is. The foam windscreen reduces unwanted wind noise by up to 25 dB, which makes outdoor filming actually doable without constantly fighting background noise.

For your $250 budget, definitely check MPB for used units and set up price alerts on Amazon – they sometimes drop unexpectedly. Also worth checking Guitar Center and Sam Ash if you have local stores; they often price-match and sometimes have open-box deals.

The upgrade from cheaper shotguns is night and day, trust me. The sound is crystal clear and professional with amazing sound quality and very sensitive to direct sound. Worth the wait for a good deal!

Hey! From a technical perspective, I think you might want to consider a few things before diving into that $250 target price point.

Honestly, the MKE 600's specs are actually quite solid for the money - it has leaning-towards-professional noise levels (15 dB-A weighted) and has an internal battery, but it also has an XLR jack on the back, giving you the option to use it on top of a camera with its own battery or plugged in with phantom power. That dual power option is actually a huge advantage over higher-end mics that only take phantom power.

BUT - and this is important - I would suggest looking at some alternatives too. The Røde NTG-3 is an excellent cheap alternative to MKH416. It clearly is inspired by the 416, is true RF condenser as well, but has a slightly wider pickup pattern with fewer off-axis coloration than the 416. The NTG-3 often goes for similar pricing to the MKE 600 during sales and might give you better wind rejection.

Technically speaking, the MKE is a back-electret permanently polarised mic versus RF condenser technology in higher-end mics. This means it's more susceptible to humidity and temperature changes - something to be careful about for outdoor YouTube work.

For your wind noise issues specifically, indoors it's not perfect at rejecting ambient noise (outdoors, it's stellar) according to one user, but you'll definitely want to invest in a good windscreen regardless of which mic you choose. Pair the MKE 600 with a Cinela mount. Night and day difference for handling vibrations too.

Just make sure to factor in those accessories when budgeting - a proper windscreen and shock mount can add another $100+ to your total cost. Have you considered that in your $250 target?

What's your current recording setup like? That might help determine if the MKE 600 is actually the right upgrade path for you.

Hey! Honestly, I think you might wanna consider looking beyond just the big sales events. From what I've learned shopping for gear on a budget, sometimes the best deals happen when you're not expecting them.

Here's the thing about that $250 target – it's definitely doable if you're flexible. I've been pretty happy checking places like Guitar Center, Sweetwater, and even some smaller camera shops during their clearance sales. They often bundle the MKE 600 with other gear for better overall value.

Also, eBay has "great deals on Sennheiser MKE 600" with "the largest selection" – but I'd suggest setting up saved searches with alerts so you catch good listings right when they pop up. Used or open-box can save you serious cash if you're okay with that.

One tip that's worked for me: follow some YouTube gear reviewers who mention when they spot deals. They're usually pretty quick to share when they find something good. Hope this helps!
