I just picked up the DJI Mini 4 Pro and I’m absolutely loving the flight experience so far! However, I’m starting to realize that the standard kit might need a few additions to really get the most out of it. I’m planning on doing a lot of landscape shooting and some travel vlogging, so I’ve been looking into ND filter sets for better cinematic motion blur and perhaps a more rugged hardshell case for transport. I'm also curious if things like landing pads or screen protectors for the RC 2 controller are actually worth it. What are the top 3 'must-have' accessories you’d recommend for a new owner to help protect the drone or improve shot quality?
Late to the party but honestly, I've spent way too much time testing gear for the Mini 4 Pro. If you're serious about landscape stuff, you 100% need Freewell DJI Mini 4 Pro All Day - 6Pack ND Filters ND16, ND32, ND64, ND/PL. For cinematic motion blur, you gotta keep your shutter speed at double your frame rate—the 180-degree rule—and the Mini 4 Pro’s fixed aperture makes that basically impossible in broad daylight without filters. The ND/PL ones are actually a game changer for cutting glare on water or foliage too.
Second, dont sleep on the storage specs. The drone writes at high bitrates, especially if you're shooting D-Log M or 4K/60, so I'd grab the SanDisk 256GB Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-I Card V30. I've seen cheaper cards fail mid-flight or drop frames, and it's literally the worst feeling losing footage... just get a V30 or V60 rated card and call it a day. tbh, 256GB is the sweet spot for a full day of travel vlogging.
Lastly, for transport, the soft bag is okay but kinda flimsy for a rugged backpack. I'd go with the Lykus Titan MA210 Waterproof Hard Case for DJI Mini 4 Pro. It’s rugged enough to survive being shoved into a carry-on or a hiking pack without stressing about the gimbal. I mean, landing pads are nice if youre in tall grass, but you can usually just hand-launch. A solid case is way more important for protection. gl with the new bird! 👍
I went through this last year and tbh, I'm all about safety first cuz losing a drone is the worst. I've tried many setups, and keeping your gear secure is priority one. Here's what's worth the cash:
* SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-I V30 for reliability
* DJI RC 2 Lanyard and Neck Strap
* Firehouse Technology Arc V Drone Strobe
Seriously, that lanyard actually saves you from drops while hiking! Do you plan on flying near water much? Peace!
In my experience, ND filters are 100% the top priority for those cinematic shots, followed by a screen protector and a hardshell case. Honestly, landing pads are usually just extra bulk you dont need. Quick question tho: what’s your actual budget for these? And are you gonna be hiking a lot or just vlogging near ur car?? That reallyyy changes which gear I'd actually suggest!!
