Ive been flying drones for years now started way back with the first Mavic Pro so im pretty used to the dji workflow. Just grabbed the Mini 4 Pro for a big hiking trip out in Colorado next month and i noticed the obstacle avoidance is great but man that gimbal seems way more exposed than my older stuff. Im worried about landing in the scrubby brush out there since it sits so low to the ground and i noticed some nasty lens flare in my test shots yesterday.
Got about 200 bucks left in the budget for extras. Beyond the extra batteries what are the actual must-have accessories you guys are using to keep this thing safe or improve the footage?
Tbh I was super disappointed with the stock bag on my last trek. It isnt as protective as I expected for Colorado terrain. Had issues with the gimbal shifting constantly.
Re: "> Im worried about landing in the scrubby brush out there since it sits so low to the ground" Just saw this thread and honestly, carrying a landing pad on a Colorado hike is a bad move imo. They're bulky and a total sail if it gets windy. I'd suggest being more practical for the trail.
> Im worried about landing in the scrubby brush out there since it sits so low to the ground I would suggest being cautious with that low clearance. You might want to consider the PGYTECH Landing Pad Pro 50cm Double Sided to keep the gimbal safe... brush is a motor killer tbh. For the flare and managing the fast f/1.7 aperture, make sure to use the Freewell DJI Mini 4 Pro ND Filters All Day 6-Pack. Theyre essential for locking your shutter speed properly.
To add to the point above: unfortunately, the stock RC 2 screen is a massive glare magnet. I had issues with visibility at high altitudes. For a budget-friendly fix, consider the HeiyRC Tempered Glass Screen Protector for DJI RC 2 and a Sunnylife Lens Hood for Mini 4 Pro. Both are significantly cheaper than name brands and actually handle lens flare better than expected. Dont skip the hood if youre worried about sun glare tho.
