Ive been shooting Fuji for a decade now, had the original X100 and the F, but the X100V is making me weirdly nervous. The ergonomics feel just a tiny bit different, maybe the finish is slicker? I dont know. I am taking it to Lisbon in two weeks for a heavy street photography trip and I am genuinely terrified I am gonna drop the thing because it gets so humid there and my hands get sweaty. My logic was to just grab a cheap Haoge one from Amazon but then I started reading these horror stories that some brands block the rear command dial or even scratch the hot shoe mount and now I am totally overthinking the whole thing.
I looked at the Lensmate one because everyone says it is the gold standard but 60 dollars plus shipping to the UK is pretty steep for a tiny piece of metal. Then there is the SmallRig version which is cheaper but does it actually stay tight? I need something that wont wiggle loose while I am walking around all day. My main concern is that the V has that tilting screen and I dont want a grip that makes it impossible to pull the screen out from the top.
Has anyone actually tried these specific ones on the V model lately? I am stressed about picking the wrong one and having it arrive too late for my flight...
To add to the point above: I'm satisfied with the SmallRig Thumb Grip for Fujifilm X100V 3085. Are you using a case too? TL;DR: Choose silicone-padded mounts to prevent metal-on-metal friction.
Honestly, I had a pretty bad time trying to save money on this. Most budget brands were just not as good as expected... they either wobbled or felt like they might snap the hot shoe.
