I just picked up a Fujifilm X-T5 and I’m trying to figure out what flash to pair with it. I mainly shoot family events and some casual portraits indoors, so I’d love something that supports Fuji TTL and HSS, and ideally can bounce/swivel for nicer light. I’m also curious about off-camera options—if a flash can act as a radio master/slave without too much extra gear, that’d be amazing. Budget is around $200–$400, but I could stretch if it’s really worth it. What flash units (and triggers, if needed) have worked reliably with the X-T5?

Hey! When I first tried flash on my Fuji I wanted something “safe” and predictable… TTL/HSS can get weird if you mix brands. For the X‑T5, I’d look at Godox V1F TTL Li-Ion Round Head Flash for Fujifilm (easy bounce, nice light) or Godox TT685 II-F TTL Flash for Fujifilm (cheaper). For off-camera, grab Godox XProF 2.4GHz TTL Wireless Flash Trigger for Fujifilm or Godox X2T-F 2.4GHz TTL Wireless Flash Trigger for Fujifilm. Just update firmware and test before an event.

Hey! I was in the same boat when I got my X‑T5… wanted TTL/HSS for family stuff but also an easy path to off-camera.
For your budget, I’ve been really happy with the Godox system. My main recommendation is the Godox V1F TTL Li-ion Round Head Flash for Fujifilm. It bounces/swivels, TTL + HSS work well on the X‑T5, and the round head gives nicer falloff for indoor portraits. Usually ~$260.
If you want something a bit cheaper but still solid, the Godox TT685 II-F TTL Flash for Fujifilm is a good value (~$130–$150), just AA-powered.
Off-camera is easy: add the Godox XProF 2.4GHz TTL Wireless Flash Trigger for Fujifilm (around $70). Then any Godox “X” flash can be a radio slave, and some can act as master too.
Lesson learned: pick one ecosystem early (Godox has been the most cost-effective for me). Hope this helps!
