So I finally bit the bullet and grabbed an X-T5 after drooling over it for months and I am so hyped. Im heading to Tokyo for two weeks next month and want to be fully geared up for all the street photography but my budget is kinda tight now after the body and lens so I got maybe 300 dollars left for extras. Ive been looking at those SmallRig baseplates because some people say the grip is a bit shallow for bigger hands but then I see others online saying it ruins the whole aesthetic of the camera which is half the reason I bought it lol. I also saw everyone recommending those crazy expensive V90 SD cards but I mostly just shoot stills and not much video so do I actually need those or can I get away with V60? Im also thinking about extra batteries since I dont want the camera dying on me in the middle of Shibuya crossing but the official ones are so pricey compared to third party ones like Wasabi. I dont want to fry my new gear though. Just trying to figure out what are the absolute must-have accessories for the X-T5 that I actually need before I get on my flight...

I recall my first week in Shinjuku with a bare Fuji body. My hand was cramping by noon because the ergonomics are just too slim for all-day street shooting. You might want to consider:

Coming back to this... Re: "To add to the point above: I was..." - honestly, reliability is king when you're thousands of miles from home. Id prioritize gear that wont fail if things get hectic in the city.

To add to the point above: I was in your exact shoes last year. The battery anxiety is real, especially when you're traveling. I ended up getting some third-party ones and they've been totally fine, honestly didnt notice a difference in performance for street stuff. Since you're on a budget, you really dont need to overthink it. Heres what I'd grab with that 300 bucks:

Man, congrats on the X-T5. Tokyo is gonna be incredible for that camera. Honestly, dont blow your whole budget on V90 cards if you're just doing street photography and stills. Its a total waste of cash for your needs tbh. I've been shooting Fuji for years and a solid V60 card like the SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB SDXC UHS-II V60 is more than fast enough for those 40MP files, even if you do some light burst shooting. Regarding the batteries, you might want to be super careful with the dirt cheap off-brands. There are just way too many stories of third-party batteries swelling or throwing weird errors in the heat. If you're worried about the camera dying in Shibuya, it might be safer to grab one extra official Fujifilm NP-W235 Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery and a decent power bank. The X-T5 charges via USB-C anyway, so you can just top it off while you're grabbing some lunch... For the grip, I totally get the aesthetic struggle. If you hate the look of a baseplate, the Haoge THB-XT5B Thumb Rest for Fujifilm X-T5 is a better bet because it gives you leverage without making the camera look bulky. Also, make sure to grab a screen protector like the ULBTER Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Fujifilm X-T5 because those subway crowds will scratch your gear before you even realize it. Have a blast!
