Hey everyone! I finally pulled the trigger and picked up a Fujifilm X-T5, and I am absolutely blown away by the retro aesthetics and that massive 40MP sensor. It’s a huge step up from my old setup, but now that it's in my hands, I realize I need to gear up properly to really make the most of it.

Since this camera packs so much resolution, I’m a bit concerned about file speeds—do I really need to invest in top-tier V90 SD cards, or can I get away with V60s for everyday street photography? I’ve also noticed the body is quite compact; for those with larger hands, do you find a dedicated hand grip or a thumb rest is necessary for a better hold? I’m also looking for a high-quality screen protector and a strap that won't dig into my neck during long travel days.

I want to keep my kit relatively portable but functional. For those of you who have been shooting with the X-T5 for a while, what are the top 3 accessories you consider absolute 'must-haves' to improve the handling or performance of this specific body?

Yo, just saw this thread! Ngl, I'd actually suggest a different approach when it comes to picking your gear. While some focus on saving money with V60s, I'm highkey paranoid about data loss and physical damage, so I prioritize reliability above everything else. 1. **The Card Choice**: I'd suggest looking at the Sony TOUGH-G series SDXC UHS-II 128GB V90. It's not just about the speed for those 40MP files; it's about that rugged, ribless design. I've had cheap cards literally fall apart in my hand, and these are basically indestructible.
2. **Handling Safety**: For your hands, definitely get the SmallRig L-Shape Grip for Fujifilm X-T5 4136. It makes the body feel way more secure and protects the bottom from scratches when you set it down.
3. **Screen Armor**: Make sure to get a tempered glass protector like the ULBTER Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Fujifilm X-T5. Plastic films just dont cut it imo. Better safe than sorry!! 👍

Ok so, I went through this last year when I first got my X-T5. Honestly, that 40MP sensor is a total beast but it definitely changed how I think about my kit... Just sharing my experience with what worked for me:
* V60 vs V90 cards: I initially tried sticking with [[SanDisk]] V60s to save cash. They're okay for casual street stuff, but V90 is literally twice as fast for clearing the buffer. If ur shooting RAW, V60 might feel kinda sluggish.
* Grip vs Thumb rest: I compared a full hand grip from [[SmallRig]] against a thumb rest. The grip adds bulk but makes the camera way more secure with heavy glass, whereas the thumb rest is better for keeping things compact.
* Neck strap vs Wrist strap: I found that a thick padded strap from [[Peak Design]] was much better than a thin one for long days, though a wrist strap is highkey better for street photography. For me, the V90 and the hand grip were the biggest game changers for handling those big files and the smaller body. anyway, hope that helps! gl!!

Curious about one thing: are you planning on shooting high-bitrate 6K video or doing heavy burst shooting for action? Ngl, that really changes the 'value' play for your gear choices. I've been shooting with the T5 for months and honestly, I'm sooo happy I didn't splurge on V90s. For everyday street stuff, Lexar Professional 1667x 128GB SDXC UHS-II V60 cards work perfectly and save u a ton of money. You'll only feel the lag if you're filling the buffer constantly. For handling, since the body is tiny, I highly recommend the SmallRig L-Shape Grip for FUJIFILM X-T5 4136. It's way cheaper than the official Fuji one and adds that extra bit of grip for your pinky... makes the camera feel much more balanced with larger lenses. Let me know about the video/burst stuff and I can give better specific recs!!

Been thinking about your kit for a bit now. Before you go buying everything, are you planning on doing mostly handheld street work or are you gonna be on a tripod for landscapes? That really changes which accessories actually matter. I learned the hard way that the X-T5 is a bit too small for all-day comfort if you have bigger hands. I once almost dropped my body during a rainy shoot because my pinky had nowhere to go and my hand cramped up... definitely not a fun time. Here is what I would suggest for staying safe and reliable:

  • Handling: Get the SmallRig L-Shape Grip for FUJIFILM X-T5 4136. It gives you a much better hold and the built-in Arca-Swiss plate is a lifesaver for tripod work. Plus, it protects the bottom of the camera from scratches when you set it down on rough surfaces.
  • Power: That 40MP sensor and the high-res EVF really drain the juice if you keep it in Boost Mode. I honestly wouldnt trust anything but the official Fujifilm NP-W235 Li-ion Battery. I have seen cheap knockoffs swell up and get stuck in the chamber, which is a total nightmare to fix.
  • Charging: Since the camera doesnt come with a standalone charger, make sure to look at the Nitecore FX3 Dual Slot USB QC Charger. It is super reliable for travel and lets you charge via a power bank while you are on the move.
