Hey everyone! I finally upgraded to the Fujifilm X-T5 and I love the sensor, but the body feels a bit small when I'm using my heavier 16-55mm lens. My hand starts cramping after an hour of street photography, so I'm looking for a solid hand grip to improve the ergonomics.
I'm trying to decide between a few different styles:
It's really important that it has an Arca-Swiss base and doesn't block the battery door. Does anyone have experience with these, and which one would you recommend for better comfort and stability?
I'd actually recommend the SmallRig L-Shape Grip for Fujifilm X-T5 4136. It offers more side protection and a more secure Arca-Swiss mount than the official one for heavy lenses.
I spent way too much time looking into this lol. I actually went with the J.B. Camera Designs Pro Wood Grip for Fujifilm X-T5 because I wanted that vintage look. It fits the Arca plate perfectly and feels way warmer than metal in winter. If you want a cheaper route, the SmallRig 4260 Silicone Grip for Fujifilm X-T5 is a solid option thats super light but still gives your pinky somewhere to rest.
Same setup here, love it
Wait really?? Thats actually super helpful. I always thought it was the other way around.
I just got the X-T5 too and had the same issue with my hand cramping. Since I'm usually pretty cautious with my gear, I decided to go with the Fujifilm MHG-XT5 Metal Hand Grip because I wanted to be 100% sure the fit was perfect. I was worried that some of the cheaper ones might scratch the bottom of the camera or not line up right with the battery door. My main tip is to make sure you use a coin to tighten it down properly. If you just use your fingers, it might wiggle a bit when you have that heavy 16-55mm lens attached. It has the Arca-Swiss base you need and it honestly feels like a natural part of the camera body. Stick with the official grip if you want the most reliable setup. It feels way more stable than trying to balance it without one.
Wow ok that changes things. Gonna have to rethink my approach now.
